As mentioned, Paige was pretty upset by it and there’s a clip of it you can see here (Not surprisingly, VERY much a language warning needed for this) Pretty poignant. She’s right; she broke her neck twice for the company, they’re doing nothing with her and they want to take this away from her? Pathetic. At least they had a reason for removing her as Smackdown GM, to give more time to Shane McMahon.

I love that Adam Cole is just keeping his stream going. What are they going to do, fire Cole so he can go work for his friends in AEW?

It's been said many times before and will be said many times after. "Independent contractors."

It's been said many times before and will be said many times after. "Independent contractors." All that term to the WWE is to get around loopholes with government. They really sad part as this situation is proving that and honestly if I was in this situation mainly someone like Paige. I should fight that because it can easily become way worst to the WWE if the government gets involved in some investigation. The WWE hands are very dirty when it comes to that side of the thing. As small it may seem about twitch can be blown up into a lot more. She has every reason to be pissed and done with the company. To do this to her after breaking her neck twice to the point she can't work. The fact they hardly used her for anything if anything at all since they cancelled WWE backstage. What is she supposed to do? Yesterday and mostly last night we saw several talent pretty much potentially said good bye, the emotions that we saw is all because of the out of touch old man. I said this is a tweet. That they done some much positive things on that platform. They play games and chat with the fans. WWE fans, fans they no longer able to meet and greet talent. or go so see in person wrestle. We seen them do charities and fundraisers on streams. All these positives things. For Paige helped her mentally and Ive heard others say that as well. Which beats what they could be doing. Better than doing drugs and drinking because they are so limited to what they can do. The WWE needs get there head out of there asses and realize that fans matter. The only way they can get that message if there was ever a massive boycott standing up to the streamers. As in stop watching where ratings drop so bad that networks won't give up that next big contract. Cancel WWE networks, and stop buying merchandise, now I know none of those things will happen in a massive rate over a handleful of streamers but that is the way for the fans to send a clear message. I think about what the WWE would do is guys like Woods, Paige, and ext flat out walk. What will happen? they get fired but they get back online. In time would be allowed to work elsewhere. I wonder how the WWE that stuff like this makes them look so toxic is really worth it for a wrestler to work there anymore. I mean is that contract worth the hell it becoming over the years? I mean really. I get it a dream for most since WWE For so long been the big company. But in todays world is it worth it?

If anything, I would love to see Vince openly admit that calling performers under his employ "Independent Contractors" is all bullshit, but sadly, I don't see that happening. This is another reason why I don't support the company anymore.

He isnt using his WWE name, or anything that they can own given his handle is Chugs McMuffin. I do wonder if that makes any difference to what they can do to his stream. He hasnt signed away the media usage rights to that name, so WWE can't stop him. I can't imagine that would go down well, but equally, he could have already signed some new contract type that allows this streaming as long as he abides by X and Y. Or he might just not have a clue and get the same texts Paige got. I'm interested to see how this story develops and what WWE counters with - my assumption being a WWE sponsored Twitch area, or even a Network version of the same thing, where you get to play as your WWE TM, but WWE gets the money rather than you

It's been said many times before and will be said many times after. "Independent contractors." The only reason 'Independent Contractors' is still a thing is because Raven et al waited too long after their employment to sue. Every time the WWE have been challenged, they've settled as they know how shaky their contracts really are. They've been saved by the statute of limitations in Connecticut over and over, but they won't be if a current employee sues over this.

It's mixed messages for sure. Adam Cole can do it under a different name so what's the issue?
And not knocking Paige, but they've being paying for years at this point for doing next to nothing, until it's a valuable asset to the company that fights back then nothing will happen.

Also our government is very pro business and unless something changes in less than a week Vince has a super powerful friend so good luck winning much.

Oh don't get me wrong, I can absolutely understand that frame of mind. It's not a simple black-and-white issue when you take into account providing for one's family. Of course, the fact that AJ is a multimillionaire whose kids will probably never have to work if they choose not to, makes his position a little harder to empathise with compared to performers who work the same schedule but make far, far less. I wouldn't go that far. With 4 kids, unless AJ has some investments that have hit it HUGE, they're gonna have to work. If he only had one kid, maybe not. But 4 is a different story. Sure but unlike a good amount of people he can comfortably put all of them in private school and send them to good colleges and they won't start their lives 200k in debt.

This does not and has never operated within a realm of names that could be owned; the labour itself is something WWE is staking its claim over. I think he's keeping on with this to play with fire because he figures he's bulletproof and is calling their bluff.

I think he's keeping on with this to play with fire because he figures he's bulletproof and is calling their bluff. Wouldn't it be both, or linked - if they are 'appearing' as their trademarked name than yes, it's going to count. They dont own those characters, even if the character is just themselves. If they are appearing under another name, or if their own name isn't signed over as a TM, then it wouldn't be countable? Going shopping at your local food shop wouldnt count, as you are there as you - but if you went in costume and tried to do a deal with said shop to get something for yourself using the signed over or given name - yes, that would be you 'appearing' and WWE would be right to want a slice of said action. They even did that to The Undertaker when he wanted to do some Starcast events and was being advertised as The Undertaker - a character he doesnt own the rights to. You use your gimmick name, or sign over your real name, and there will be legal ramifications to what and how you can use that name. I am interested to see if Cole has found the loophole around the new rules, and indeed if anything happens to him for finding it (if indeed he has) or if he has a new media inclusive contract which perhaps others dont have yet - or yeah, he could be trying to stand up to them - or might be too dumb to realise what the new rules are. Isn't the big talent meeting about it today? Going forward, as well as fully expecting to see a WWE version or area within the platform, I think we'll see much more breaking of kayfabe and people being clearer that 'this is my character and this is me' and a lot less people signing over their own names as a TM

Also our government is very pro business and unless something changes in less than a week Vince has a super powerful friend so good luck winning much. That's what keeps it going, they string talent along with the hope of getting signed back long enough for the two years to expire and then it's too late to sue over the contract. They know their contracts will not hold up. they've folded time and time again when guys like Brock and ADR have gotten lawyers involved to stop the WWE trying to screw them over, and if there was a way to fix it, and rewrite the law in such a way the contracts comply, Linda would have pushed for these changes while she was in in the Trump admin.
