Yeah, that wording is vague as hell. Just gotta wait to see what they actually mean The only possible justification for WWE is that they poorly communicated what they meant and what they really meant is something like saying bigoted things on third party platforms can still get you in trouble with the company, not literally any kind of outside endeavors. But I doubt that’s it.

One factor that I think is worth bringing up in possible motivations is that platforms like twitch let wrestlers build up audiences independent from WWE. They give the talent direct lines to their fans, and those fans will be able to keep following them after they've left WWE. The same way that nobody in WWE is allowed to be bigger than the brand and Vince stifles people who get over when they 'aren't supposed to', people building their own brands and building up their own fame outside of his control and beyond the reaches of the audience he thinks he owns is something he doesn't want. It's a space he can't control, but with people making money on the indies or in Japan or in AEW, hell even with TNA again, the possibility of people becoming fans of a wrestler instead of Vince's wrestling show and potentially following the person they like off to somewhere else is something I don't think he wants to allow. There's no WWE alternative coming, because this isn't about WWE getting its cut of subscriptions instead of Amazon. This is about making sure nobody does anything that Vince can't control.

Vince: You are all independent contractors. Employee: Cool, I think I'll start a Twitch channel V: No, you can't do that. E: Okay...how about a YouTube channel? V: Not that either E: ...a Tiktok? V: Nope E: Then what can I do? V: ....Your an independent contractor. E: ....We're not actually 'independent contractors', are we? V: ....No, no...but we're gonna keep saying you are!

As a point, Mia Yim is currently streaming a charity stream for the Casey Michael Memorial, but she's changed the name of her stream.

Everything about how Renee went about leaving is great because she was a total consummate professional about it but has put juuuuust enough out there to make it clear it was a long time coming and she was completely fed up.

All of this sounds highly illegal. Is there a source wrestleinc got this from? I don't doubt it, but it sounds really newzy in terms of "we own your real names"

I'm truly beside myself with this news, the company has made record breaking profits in a pandemic, won't give NXT Stars extra money, has cut talent, and practically forced talent to both work through a pandemic, and madePC workers act like fans and stand for hours to support the show, and when they try to make some money and more of a living by just doing cameos and playing video games, they're literally trying to take that away from them, in an environment where wrestlers have already been incredibly been outspoken about, that it is f***ing miserable to work there.
It's just a complete perfect storm of shit, especially after the Saudi incident, especially after the COVID shit too. It's just one of those things where you wouldn't expect it to be the straw to break the camels back, but it is the ultimate indication of how much Vince does not understand his talent, or how to please them.

This is stupid. Of course Vince doesn't understand how important these sites can be to grow brands.
Or, they're going to close down the wrestler's personal ones and then relaunch them under the WWE banner so the WWE can control the content and the revenue.
They'd better not come for Asuka's YouTube channel. That's the most wholesome thing on the internet.

And if Renee Young of all people was that fed up, imagine the people who have to answer to the booking whims of this guy on top of all the bullshit. I have to imagine wrestlers walking or even asking or their releases at this point after riding out the height of the pandemic.

Is there any info out there as to whether an alternative was offered. Because I can’t see WWE leaving money on the table with some of this stuff.
Maybe they’ll do more original content for the network and have the wwe people stream from that platform.
Yes, it takes away directly from the WWE wrestlers, but WWE doesn’t care about that.

Her quick wit, humor and shade throwing to the level of the woman from the 1984 Macintosh commercial with the sledgehammer was one of their greatest strengths. Now with her gone, it's being used against them. It's like Triple H teaching Batista everything and then he turned on him.

Wonder how'd that work in that it would be an industry wide thing, not just WWE right? Would a third party (a non active wrestler) head it? I can't imagine someone from WWE or AEW running it and meddling with the other company's affairs .
