Ayup. AJ, as expected has zero interest in fighting Vince and will do nothing that will involve sticking his neck out to help younger talents making less money. "f*** you, I got mine." -AJ Styles, probably.

AJ is 43 years old and has 4 school aged children ranging 6-15 he likely wants to put through college. If I’m him, I’m not sticking my neck out either. Dude’s made good money, but I doubt he has “f*** you” money. He’s got a big family, and maybe wants to actually retire when he retires. If he wants to put his head down, work and collect his paycheques, I’ll never fault a guy for that

Hell WWE would dump double what he is making just so he wont go to AEW. He has more than enough money and job safety without needing to suck up.

Lets also not forget he had no issue making waves over Gallows and Anderson, pissing off co-workers and management because it was affected his buddies and his push. He's seen as influential enough backstage he was chosen to speak with Vince, in a position to help the roster, he chose not to.

It’s worth noting that Xavier Woods was on this weeks Good Game Nice Try, and he was billed as Austin Creed and regularly called Austin, even when talking about WWE. This is good,if they do pull this bullshit it needs to be a two-way street. No more calling then their kayfabe name outside of WWE-Shows

This is why it’s gonna take a third party from outside the company (probably even outside of wrestling) to step in. Those who need the extra income the most don’t have the influence, those with the influence don’t really need the extra money.

It seems like him, Sasha and Woods all did tell Vince it was a bad idea, that doesn’t mean he’s going to bow and listen to them.

Some people aren’t interested in being that person, he shouldn’t be vilified for making that choice. Not everyone can, or wants to be, Robin Hood and that’s totally his prerogative. That being said, Vince claiming he owns the intellectual property of the performers appearance is really f***ed up

'WWE owns your appearance' sounds like some nightmare dystopian fiction, even before the words 'Independent Contractors' start flashing in giant neon letters.

It’s worth noting that Xavier Woods was on this weeks Good Game Nice Try, and he was billed as Austin Creed and regularly called Austin, even when talking about WWE. Which makes sense with what AJ is saying, and others have said from the start - if you use a WWE Trademark to do your stuff, they will own you because they own that TM. What we need to see is someone stream using their real name. That's the real challenge. Will WWE try and stop someone doing it under their own name rather than their TM; where legally does WWE own the image of the wrestler as IP for this sort of content as defined by the contract they will have signed? I'd be interested to see someone go for broke and try to legally challenge that.

Even if you use your own name they made it clewe they will try to control itThat's the bit I'd like to see challenged legally, as that would reveal just how much the talent sign over in their contracts around their actual appearance. We know image rights for say the WWE 2K games need to be signed separately, or at least did. Maybe that has changed, and that is linked as 'digital imaging rights.' Equally, I'd assume they'd have to sign something around streaming rights for the Network, so I wonder if that has a clause that someone in legal has decided can be used here. The problem here is that there isnt much law in place for this new technology, and you can guarantee WWE aren't the only big corps doing it. So any attempt to go to Court over this sort of thing would be important enough that you could end up with a test case that sees lots of interesting developments not just for WWE, but for others, so WWE may end up getting a lot of help from others not wanting similar things allowed. Could be really interesting, if anyone has the money to try it

If they told me they owned my face I'd start streaming with a mask on and ask them now what.

I'm beginning to be less of a fan of AJ, but I'm not sure how much you can blame him here. Would it be great if he took on Vince at this BS? Yeah, sure. But he's the one losing money now and being exploited by what I'm pretty sure that we can all agree now is a pretty evil company. He's the one who has to stop streaming, he's the one losing excess revenue and a hobby and something he worked on to build. The reason they can pull this illegal bullshit is because they have the leverage. When this leverage works, that doesn't make AJ the bad guy. It just illustrates why they throw their weight around like this, because they can, and it's objectively disgusting.

Speaking of which, did they mention that at all at Smackdown or TLC? Because not being funny but if I was running the company, I would be showing that clip of Sasha Jetpack tornado DDTing Boba Fett every chance I got, screw the amount of money I’d give to Disney for that.

Nope, they haven't referenced it on air. There's only been one wrestler who has made a Mandalorian reference, and that was Riddle.

I will never be amazed about WWE letting one of their talents do something and it never coming up on actual TV to make them look like stars. This isn’t some dumb USA show nobody watches, it’s The Mandalorian. It’s an Emmy award nominated Star Wars show. Hype that up!
