Just saying if what jim ross said on commentary was offensive I hate to see how people would of survived Jerry Lawler in the attitude era the Attitude Era ended nearly 20 years ago, attitudes (no pun intended) change over time, often for the better

Just saying if what jim ross said on commentary was offensive I hate to see how people would of survived Jerry Lawler in the attitude era Okay but f*** Jerry Lawler? f*** him in the Attitude Era. f*** him today, too. You're the only person who used the word "offensive" to describe what Ross said, nobody else has. "In poor taste" and "f***ing creepy" aren't inherently the same thing as offensive. I think a world where Jerry Lawler is the victim of angry social outrage in the year 1998 and is forever kicked from the commentary booth, thereby creating a world where his commentary isn't ever heard from again, results in an objectively better alternate universe.

If they had to make Sammy Guevara take a month off with pay donated to charity and take sensitivity classes for his tasteless comments he said years ago that had little bearing on his current self, can we not have the same done to Jim Ross who is saying these classless comments right now?

I cringed when I heard him say that last night. Just completely embarrassing. JR is a detriment to the product at this point. They really need to do something about him but I doubt they will.

Yea, i'm pretty sure 70% of his was around for the AE Also, people standards change over a 20-25 year period. A good portion of us was kids or teens then so to act like our standards wouldn't change as adults is weird If Lawler said anything close to that he'd be fired as he'd said less then that in this age and he should been fired.

There’s zero tolerance for creepiness from the announce. Imagine if someone said something similar during an Olympic event or something, their ass would be out of there by the next commercial. Wrestling needs to come out of the dark ages of the good ol boys just being boys mentality.

Wrestling needs to come out of the dark ages of the good ol boys just being boys mentality. We've had two instances of that lately One in MLB where I believe the Reds announcer said a racist remark and pretty much knew he was f***ed. They took him off TV after the next commercial. The other was in NHL where I believe someone said a sexist remark and was done after the next game or two

"It flew in the late '90s, a time where just about anything could be said and the more crass and over the top it was, the more people cheered for it as proof 'the man' was being countered" isn't a great argument for anything. Wrestling is trying its hardest to get out of so much of the perceptual damage that the Attitude Era caused, using it to lionize somebody's sexism is the opposite of that.

Well watching the show now and JR is being pretty annoying in the first match.
If you’re gonna suck AND be a perv I don’t need ya.

I thought Lawler was cringe AF once he started yelling "PUPPIES!" like some horny teenager everytime women showed up in the Attitude Era. And I was a horny teenager. I knew my kind.

EDIT: ...wait, this isn't a place for making "Jerking Edge Off...THE LADDER" references, cuz JR was legit throwin' sexist trash around? OK Boomer Sooner -- you screw w/ my joke-references, you're on The List

I don't have a problem with JR being horny. I just don't want to know that he's horny. The thought of a man lusting for a woman young enough to be his granddaughter needs to put in a more appropriate place like the Pornhub comments section.
Now that I think about it....he's probably posts about her there too under the screenname "BoomHerSooner".

He's been terrible since he started. He was a nostalgia hire to get more jaded fans to notice and nothing more.
Then again, I was done with him at the G1 special when he couldn't even be bothered to remember names and storylines.

JR's been super horny, especially on Twitter ever since his wife passed away. To call a spade a spade here... He’d been horny LONG before his wife passed away. I'd ask for examples, but I don't want to rip my eyes out.

Right, and what must Excalibur think, sitting next to the dude who gets to say whatever stupid shit comes out of his mouth, when he himself had to take a forced sabbatical because of something he said in a different company a decade ago. (I'm not condoning Excalibur's previous actions in anyway, just pointing out the double standards).

Basically, Anna Jay got into the 8-man match, Brandy kicked her ass out of the ring, JR asks if she had a wardrobe malfunction and then jokes how he wouldn't have minded if so. Not a good look AT ALL IMO. We've moved on from female wrestlers being Vince's personal Barbie dolls, I get the women in the company are good looking but that isn't why we should be watching. Completely unnecessary comment and had his Tweet end before the final line I could have excused him a bit. That added bit though felt more like a " I'm sorry you were offended" comment than an actual apology. Ah, the Channel Awesome "apology" approach...works 0% of the time, every time.

I don't have much of an opinion because I think I just didn't really hear it as it happened, but I do find "why don't you find the Attitude Era offensive?" arguments funny when you consider that era was nearly 25 years ago and a ton of fans literally weren't born yet, or at least were babies or small children...so no, I wouldn't expect them to have a really strong opinion one way or the other about that time.

Yeeeeeah, that was exactly my thought as well. It was like people like that compare notes on apologies.
