I love that people are talking like this is something new for these goobers. They’ve been getting wrecked by pretty much everyone since they showed up. If they make it past New Years Day I’ll be shocked. They may not make it past Survivor Series

If you want to make these guys look like goons fine.
But adding Ali to the group makes me think differently. He is clearly being built as a serious character in a group of goofs. It doesn’t make sense.

I wouldn’t mind the stable taking ass kickings if they did it so that the hooded guys are the ones who get easily beaten.

Also, why stick them with Hurt Business AND Fiend/Bliss? Maybe WWE thinks this makes Retribution look more important because they’re in two feuds at once, but they’re already selling for Lashley and now here comes the monster. The Fiend isn’t invincible, but he at the least is on the same power tier as Undertaker 1991. Meaning if you’re not a main eventer like Hogan, Warrior, Roman or Goldberg, if you draw the Fiend card then you’re probably gonna have a lousy night. This is why sometimes when you introduce new talent, it’s best to let them run through some tomato cans, or lower midcarders. If we’re supposed to take Retribution seriously while they’re being overwhelmed like this, WWE should show me why. Okay, you’re officially signed, so where’s the devastation you promised? It's kind of nuts how little they've even had people run through jobbers or lower card guys. I've been saying it from the start when their vandalism stuff didn't really track; if they attacked wrestlers and seemed to actually be a physical threat, that'd do a lot for them. I remember when The Shield first showed up, and there were tons of people trying to beat them and trying to find allies to form up and take them down across seven months of six-man tag match supremacy. So much of the group's legacy came from being able to run through steadily more credible guys and prove they were an unstoppable force. Retribution hasn't really had any of that. Also, from a story perspective, you'd think there would be a bunch of people who'd want to stop Retribution from doing what they're doing considering what they have done already. But the people opposing them are The Hurt Business...the group who spent months wanting to either a) have people join their group by force or b) beat people up so bad their careers are done. And they're basically the company's saviors? What?

And they're basically the company's saviors? What? There was a plan this all happened with a plan in mind, this is WWE's plan. All along there was a plan and this was not a hotshotted ratings grab cooked up on a Sunday evening because Vince saw a news report about protests and thought he could "say something" and pop a rating for the very next episode of Raw by doing it. All of this is going exactly as intended from the very beginning.

Lol. The reaction of people here is night and day. This thread started as a retribution sucks outcry. With many feeling the same way followed by months of they need to get rid of them. Then last night they get smashed by the fiend and now people are upset that they're getting beat? What a time to be alive... In the wrestling world

In the wrestling world yeah the discussion itself now, for years, moves with the ebb and flow of the quality of writing rather than the much pleaded for 'wait and see' method, a method which you'd be using on a company that's now borderline nihilism in its working

In the wrestling world The issue is there is two things WWE could have done: Push them to fix then Outright write them off and cancel it. WWE chose to half ass between both. They chose what would make no one happy

People were hoping the Ali reveL was the beginning of better things. Many of us watch Raw, every week. That’s a three hour investment. We want stuff that is worth spending that time on. Thus angle has been getting trashed, because it’s been trash. But the Ali thing was a glimmer of hope. But last night was another strong signal that it’s just another waste of time.
The idea that fans are a unpleasble blob, feeding off its own cynicism, is patently false. The “wait and see” mentality is so frustrating, because it feels like a lot of times that’s all we do. Give us something worthwhile and we will respond accordingly. How many threads were mass about Roman Reigns, his push, and WWE battling their own fans? But they did something intereTing with him and were falling over ourselves to sing his praises.

Yeah, I have to say that the belief that you can't please the fans is demonstrably false in every other wrestling promotion on Earth or through history. And these are PATIENT fans. Like, these ratings have been slipping constantly for years - I stopped watching between 2002-2006, but after that kept up consistently, bought the Network on the day it was available in my country. I tolerated not just shitty writing and booking from WWE, but outright targeted contempt at us as fans for getting behind the wrong guys. For years. I paid for the privilege, no less! What eventually stopped me watching the WWE was ethics, not the writing, but the writing should have stopped me years ago, because every single week WWE's writing, attitude and presentation tells you why you shouldn't care. The thing is, almost every single week they come up with something that's worth watching.

WWE's got some crazy ass Stockholm Syndrome-like hold on the people who don't like the product and all the reprehensible things the company does, but they still continue to watch it weekly. Or better yet, don't like the product but actually trot out the tired "wait and see" rhetoric.

If you ever watch a movie and you like the movie but then something happens in the movie and you stop liking it, you're bad and don't know how movies work and you should never admit that. You need to feel only one emotion all the time about something and can never come back on board or be pushed away by a piece of media.
