An outsider takeover group that keeps losing. Interesting.

For anyone who didn't see the PPV here's a recap
It's time to stop defending this booking. People really wanted to see "wait and see" and "they'll be fine" earlier in this thread when they got Fiended. Nah, when WWE kill it, they KILL it, repeatedly. That's what's happening here. Peple really gotta stop giving this company a benefit of the doubt, have you SEEN the talent they've ran into the ground??
I feel so bad for Ali and everyone involved in this shit.

They just said they wanted to take over. They never said they were gonna be any good at it! Sometimes losers try ambitious things!

This is like if The Shield consisted of Bo Dallas, Eli Cottonwood, and Adam Rose, and they lost all the time.

The end did look like a Survivor Series set up.
But yeah, why would we want to see that if Slapjack taps out quick and clean, and then they all get beaten down by Lashley? And then flee when the rest of the Hurt Business come down the aisle?

It’s a shame, because the parts of the whole are mostly intriguing.
Ali is awesome at everything, and makes sense as the leader. A fire promo. A reason to be pissed. Great wrestler. Great look.
Dijak was a stud in NXT ... before morphing into Konnor on the main roster.
I think Mace has megastar potential.
Slapjack is funny.
Mia sucks. But she doesn’t do anything anyways.
But they’re not even trying to make them look credible. I thought getting Ali would be a soft reboot into looking legit, instead they’ve just got their asses thoroughly kicked by Lashley. I’m going to keep “Wait and See”’ing just because I like the parts of the group but I’m not holding my breath. I expect Mace to get squashed by Lashley tonight.

Another thing that dawned on me thinking about all this;
So Lashley presumably is beating all members of Retribution to get his hands on Ali, right?
The same Ali the Hurt Business spent months trying to take out along with Alexander, Ricochet and Cruise, right?
Taking away all the stuff with Retribution for a second...what are we as an audience supposed to be rooting for here? For MVP and his crew to get revenge on the crew...where the one member was trying to beat him up? For Ali to get what he deserves...more beatings from The Hurt Business?
Like, look, they don't have crowds, it's not like there are distinct heels and faces right now in terms of crowd reactions but, again, they're all bad guys here. So what's there to actually grab onto here?

Is... Retribution meant to be a take that towards the anti-WWE crowd by having them espouse how WWE is a corrupt machine and they get their asses kicked all the time?

Honestly, it's not something that can even be ruled out at this point. It's legitimately how I've been treating this whole thing outside of the other implication of what Retribution represents. There's always a reason with Vince. Nothing is an accident. Except for his successes.

Honestly, if this had started with them taking over catering, and they stayed there, and then they eventually started running catering, that would be a better storyline than what's going on now.

And then flee when the rest of the Hurt Business come down the aisle? Lashley has tapped 2 of the 4 Retribution members by himself, and has taken out all four by himself twice now in both a match and a post-match segment, that's not even counting The Fiend stuff They have absolutely thrown this group to the wolves, like the group outside of Ali don't even have any moves outside of basic strikes that we've seen too, it's really not good. You have Ali talking about how these guys are special, held back talent, while they're jobbing at the same time. It's BAD.

The only way to redeem Retribution is to have them steamroll the Hurt Business and a female associate at Survivor Series. I don’t mean just win the match, I mean a total shut out, start with getting Lashley out in the opening seconds, then MVP leaving Shelton, Cedric and the woman (say Lacey Evans for example) to fall in short order. Then have them interrupt the WWE title match and beat both Orton and whoever he faces to stand tall at the end of the night

The one positive to come out of Ali's involvement with this group is people (hopefully) seeing how good his promo work can be. He didn't deserve the "bland flippy guy" label I've seen people give him.
