It's kinda weird that they're lowkey on a bit of a roll (even if it's just mostly the men beating on a single guy for weeks on end).

It's kinda weird that they're lowkey on a bit of a roll (even if it's just mostly the men beating on a single guy for weeks on end). You can only beat who they put in front of you. They just had the unfortunate luck of having run-ins with two of the most protected acts on the roster right at the start of this thing in Bobby Lashley (with The Hurt Business) and The Fiend.

Ali's apparently going to be in the Rumble, as he said tonight.

Ali's apparently going to be in the Rumble, as he said tonight. Which is surprisingly a great bit of story telling and a callback to how Kofi replaced Ali. They somehow stumbled into this

In the case of Retribution vs. Kingston, we find in favor of... Mustafa Ali, the best faction leader ever and give him 100 million dollars plus The WWE World Championship. Slapjack: I'm Slapjack and I'm the biggest idiot ever. Ali: [after he wakes up from his dream] I have to put that one in my dream journal.

Better Woolie's carrying this team to some respect in the ring, being the true ace of Retribution. I wouldve said sexy woolie, but any SCF /McMuscles reference is good with me lol

So Retribution's Royal Rumble was Ali coming out and not lasting very long in the actual match and NONE of his lackey's even backing him up to try and help him win the damn thing, even Omos showed up to help AJ and stave off his eliminations!
I don't know what we're doing here anymore. Ali's screaming about being held back by the old guard but in Kayfabe is not winning or doing anything remotely impressive to warrant a push with his group.
It comes off almost as WWE meta of "See? The guy who you all say is better SUCKS!", and Ali deserves way better than this.

The weird thing is, he may not have lasted that long (13:18) but he’s still in the Top 10 for that statistic in this year’s match, and he got an elimination, which, you know... Half the field didn’t get one.
I mean, if he’s an ineffectual goob, then he’s less of one than Jeff Hardy, Elias, Ricochet, John Morrison, The Miz, Sheamus, Cesaro, Rey Mysterio and Otis were this year.

Cesaro not getting an elimination was surprising, given that they positioned him as a credible threat going into the show, complete with a victory over Daniel Bryan (who was an early favorite to win the Rumble as the first person to be announced for the match).

I thought the Rumble was a decent showcase for Ali if only for the moment when he was directing traffic in everyone beating the shit out of Edge. That's a hell of a lot more of a spotlight than most midcarders get. Hell, it's more than guys like Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio got.

Cesaro not getting an elimination was surprising, given that they positioned him as a credible threat going into the show, complete with a victory over Daniel Bryan (who was an early favorite to win the Rumble as the first person to be announced for the match). Bryan himself only got the one, and that was the group one where they all ganged up on Lashley. There was no real runaway elimination getter this year, which is why the winners in that stat were a three-way tie for 4 (Big E, Strowman and Priest).
