Cheap looking bane and Jason masks with mad max face paint and clothing. This was the most Indy shit ive seen in forever. I really feel bad to everyone involved. Dream to work for WWE all your life and that’s your main roster debut? Who was everyone? I knew Mia. I’m kinda sure on a few others but my mind went blank. Dominick Dijakovic, Mercedes Martinez, Dio Madden, and the dude in the hockey mask is unknown atm, maybe Shane Thorne

“The Retribution members who were in the ring that were clearly identifiable were Dominik Dijakovic, Mia Yim, Mercedez Martinez and Dio Maddin. Shane Thorne has been in the group in recent weeks so he’s likely the other person who was in the ring.“
Dominik could have been a star...

This is legitimately one of the hokiest cornball angles I've seen in the past decade. This is worse than a lot of TNA shit I've seen because at least when TNA did this dumb shit you could say "Ah well it's TNA", a multi million dollar company is running an angle like this and treating it completely serious. This is just how far shit has fallen.
This would probably be the worsy angle of 2020 if RAW Underground wasn't airing alongside it.

Mercedes Martinez went for this instead of AEW
Like I get AEW's women's division isn't their strongest point, but she would have been a big fish, now she's a f***ing Mad Maxx cosplay and her career's pretty much railroaded on the main roster.

Did I read right and say they signed all the people causing chaos to contracts? ...The f*** would you do that for? That's what you're confused about? The 5 of them are regulars on NXT. They already HAD contracts... SMH.

Like we just aren't supposed to know it's them, especially Mia "Blue Hair" Yim.

Their NXT contracts might as well not count in the same way NXT doesn’t count. And again, if there were a bunch of maniacs causing chaos and wrecking stuff...why would you sign them and basically give them what they want? That’d be the last thing you should do.

I am not usually a fan of "just let wrestlers write their own promos!" but if you seriously just let Martinez write the promos here based on her own career, this would be a kabillion times better.

In Mercedes' case, she's about to turn 40 and has been wrestling for 20 years; most wrestlers who have been around for a long time always go for the money as they get towards the end of the road. Hopefully, she was able to sucker WWE out of some extra cash by dangling AEW in front of them and is just collecting nice paychecks for whatever dumb shit they cook up for her.

It’s just all coming off as really pretentious to me, if we’re being honest. They gotta be thinking they’re creating this great Jake Roberts-esque sinister verbage and it’s just edgelord nonsense, like.

Mia Yim lost a quick match to Shotzi Blackheart about 3 weeks ago on NXT. Dominik Dijakovic got dominated by Kross... Why should I care about these goobers again?
And what do they want retribution for exactly?
I said it before. The ONLY way this could've been good is if it was a bunch of released talent coming back... The likes of Barrett, Slater, David Hart Smith, Lio Rush, Adam Rose etc. Have a bunch of them in there and make it genuinely surprising when one reveals themselves after the other.
This whole thing makes no f***ing sense.

Okay, just watched the clip and literally laughed out loud. The ill-fit masks purchased from Dick's Sporting Goods, the makeup straight from one of those easy how-to Halloween kits, the shaky cam as a way to show chaos and anarchy, etc. -- this is a WWE stable produced by the company who made those mockbusters like Atlantic Rim and Snakes on a Train.

Hell, out of all those names, Wade Barrett would be the most credible since he actually got a WrestleMania moment before release. Like, he’s done really well for himself outside WWE but not a single person is going to go “HOLY SHIT, THAT’S DAVID HART SMITH!” to his unmasking.

But the motive for the retribution would be atleast logical as opposed to "Hey let's ignore the fact that we actually have contracts because we wrestle on the third brand... Oh and we sucked there so let's hope you didn't actually see any of that, lol." Like... Having ONE wrestler be the reveal and the masked extras as his "army" would've even been better than this.

But you turn the motivation into this weird blurred kayfabe thing about not having the opportunity and being fired and all that which then makes it worse because you’re then trying to build up people that you didn’t give a shit about the first time around. And they lost more than the NXT people ever did. At least with the NXT people, you have TV ready people who you can put a fresh coat of paint on because NXT doesn’t matter, apparently.

In fairness, McIntyre, Mahal, Lashley, MVP and others are now serious players and they were all let go at some point. There is no reason why they couldn't bring some guys like Barrett, Ryback and Smith back and feature them. And yeah, my gripe is that NXT doesn't matter. Like, the fact that it doesn't even seem to be Canon at this point genuinely bothers me. From Keith Lee showing up with a new theme and attire to The War Raiders becoming The Viking Raiders... Everything about this annoys me. Especially when NXT is the best show they have.

There is no reason why they couldn't bring some guys like Barrett, Ryback and Smith back and feature them. Because they all got built back up over time to be credible. If you have a bunch of fired guys who served the last stretch of their WWE time on Main Event and Superstars or whatever and have them in a stable together with the aim of taking revenge on...whoever, then the first instinct is to think “Well, they’re going to all get killed” because that’s the last image a lot of the fan base has of them.
