This whole time, Retribution has been a couple of kids stacked on top of each other wearing big person clothes.

I put Retribution in the same league as every other cheesy thing that they've done in the past 10 years. The camera angles gave it away as overly-choreographed tripe. Kevin Dunn can't make anything watchable, can he?

Nothing says defiance and rebellion like using only the corporate-approved buzzwords and trademarked names for things. Really sells how they're going against the grain. God, you remember the Joey Styles worked shoot? Remember how, at the time, him yelling "wrestling" over and over actually gave it some weight entirely because he was allowed to break free from that mold and shit all over the corporate language? Well good news, they've become so rigid and obsessive that now they can't even let that happen, and the people who showed up to take their angers out on WWE's private property will happily recognize and use their preferred, trademarkable euphemisms. It's a joke. I get what you’re saying, but that Joey promo was and still is one of the most cringeworthy segments I’ve seen on Raw. Just everything that annoyed me about the guy. Considering the promo was meant to make WWE loyalists angry & uncomfortable, it was mission accomplished.

Why? As they said, they're ready to go after all the "Superstars" out there. Too bad there's no Superstars anymore. They will make Main Event their home soon enough, however.

None of you are safe!" *now* Retribution: "Alright, Smackdown, you're safe...but RAW better watch out!" *a few weeks into the future* Retribution: "We just hate Debbie in accounting!" Debbie: "Get the Hell out of my office!" Retribution: "Yes ma'am. Sorry ma'am." *Retribution sheepishly walks away*

In mother Russia, Retribution pulls the plug on you. To be fair, that's what they've done for the most part. Turning things off and on.

I’m no loyalist, actually I’ve been more critical of the company than ever lately and I like a ton of other wrestling over modern WWE. I’ve just never been into Joey S’s stuff. If he’s not in original ECW and playing off certain personalities, he gets too pretentious for me.

I keep reading the title as "It's Time to Pull the Trigger On Retribution", which only goes to show how long they've been spinning their wheels. I swear if it ends up actually being the likes of Mia Yim and Dominick Dijakovic, not only does it not make sense because those two weren't cast aside they're getting very prominant NXT pushes, but it basically railroads them coming into the company to be shoveled this crap gimmick. At least if it turns out to be the random EVOLVE people there isn't much risk even if it's a wet fart of a reveal. I just had the worst thought. Considering the obvious political inspiration being drawn from here, if it does turn out to be the likes of Yim and Dijakovic, I fully expect us to get a promo about privileged young punks claiming to be oppressed.

I would hope that _somebody_ would move this angle along in a way that got them over as something more than a mere inconvenience.
Really, though, it's almost required to move it along. They shouldn't have started it at all if they didn't have a point B in place, at least.

How long did they tread water before we got the payoff?

How long did they tread water before we got the payoff? To be fair, they did get some progression with Hardy and Wyatt - they ended up teaming up as a face tag team. Mind you, that feud was clearly meant to get Wyatt away from Finn after Wyatt wimped out on jobbing to Balor once again like he was clearly meant to do as TLC got mumps/24-hour ebola/what was that he supposedly got and did Roman actually get it, too? Retribution hasn't had a chance to progress and, in order to do so, they'll need to escalate their tactics to keep people's attention if they don't have a way out of the corner yet.

Much like Moxley shooting down some horrible comment WWE wanted him to make re: Roman and his leukemia, I wonder if they had intended to pay it off sooner, but given what they were trying to cash in on, it was something so tasteless and tone-death, they tossed it because it'd have made Ubisoft's "BLM is being orchestrated by a cabal, they're the bad guys" PR cyanide look like a smart business decision.
