Saw it mentioned in the other thread, but it def deserves its own thread The two blocks of the G1 is announced and looks like they will have a full roster A Block: Kota Ibushi, Kazuchika Okada, Tomohiro Ishii, Shingo Takagi, Yujiro Takahashi, Taichi, Minoru Suzuki, Will Ospreay, Jeff Cobb, Jay White. B Block: Hiroshi Tanahashi, Hirooki Goto, Toru Yano, YOSHI-HASHI, SANADA, Tetsuya Naito, EVIL, Zack Sabre Jr., Juice Robinson, KENTA.

Ospreay's a dickhead, but figured he'd crop up.
I am a big fan of Jeff Cobb, and while his G1 run last time was kinda eh, I think it didn't help he was getting overshadowed as a new face in the mix because so many people last time were first-timers. I hope this will be a better showcase for him.
I am glad Ibushi and Naito, as well as Okada and SANADA, are in different blocks. It means we're not going to get some matches that could use a bit of a rest.
Takahashi and Yoshi-Hashi are probably going to elicit groans, but both guys have been getting pushed more lately, so I suppose we will see if they rise to the occasion. If nothing ese, they're likely "break" matches for their opponents, much like Yano usually is.
Guessing Jay was quite deliberately put in a different block from EVIL in order to maintain some speculation about what their particular relationship is going to be. I guess we'll get a taste of that with EVIL and KENTA, though, what that dynamic will be. I doubt one will just lie down for the other.
Suzuki being in this year is great, of course. I am actually rather eager to see his match with Taichi, given the latter has had an interesting path these last couple of years, and sometimes seems like an even more likely successor than Zack would be if Suzuki lost control of his stable. Suzuki-Gun are tweeners these days, considering Bullet Club are firmly back in their heel roots, but they haven't lost their teeth, I imagine.
Speaking of factions, we have 6 members of CHAOS in the G1, three in each block. We've got 4 Bulet Club members, two in each block. 3 Suzuki-Gun, 3 LIJ members, and 4 people who are not affiliated with a stable, given I don't really count Taguchi Japan much, or else Tanahashi and Juice would factor into that.

A block makes me feel stronger about my earlier prediction I think Okada wins the G1 with Jay White costing Ibushi the spot in the finals. Ibushi will probably be the only one to beat Okada in the G1 tho so he will challenge him for the case and win it setting up him and Naito for WK. B Block is a little tough to call. I'd say this is the best time to really push SANADA hard and I think even if he lost the G1 final matchup, i'd have him beat Naito in the G1 and win the IC title off him on the next event. Can see EVIL/SANADA for the IC title at WK. The surprise pick for B block would be KENTA

Pretty standard lineup but having guys like Juice, Ospreay and White back will really help. Excited to see Suzuki back too although would rather have Honma than Yujiro or YOSHI-HASHI. Some really strong matchups in here especially excited to see Shingo/Okada and Shingo/Ibushi and interested to see what happens with KENTA/EVIL

For my own happiness I want to see Shingo win the A and KENTA win the B.

David Finlay is another person who should've gotten in.

I'm fine with Yujiro and YOSHI-HASHI
They have been getting pushes this year with more coverage so this is a good step up for Yujiro especially

B Block is less stacked, but that's obviously on purpose to protect the double champion in Naito, as well as allow EVIL to get a high-scoring showcase as a newly-minted main event player. I like the breakdowns, overall.
The biggest question is if SANADA will finally get new gear for the event. He's been ripping through those pirate pants for years now.

David Finlay is another person who should've gotten in. Brody King, too, if there was any way for him to pass protocols.

I'm fine with Yujiro and YOSHI-HASHI They have been getting pushes this year with more coverage so this is a good step up for Yujiro especially Those two and Cobb are really the only spots that could have gone elsewhere. I like the lineup, but it does suck that Finlay didn't make the cut or couldn't make it due to travel reasons. These blocks are pretty legit, too. Loving the intra-faction matches we're getting this year; this is Suzuki's first G1 match against a teammate since 24, and Taichi is a compelling opponent. Just super happy we're getting Juice vs Tanahashi; that's a great matchup for this point in their careers, and it's going to be hard to root for one over the other. KENTA vs EVIL is super interesting, and should be a great clash of styles.

They put in the wrong Takahashi At this point I'm just hoping Super Juniors moves forward. Hiromu is one of many juniors who deserves to get a good tourney tour in this year. As ELP said on twitter; "announce a BOSJ, cowards."

I initially had a sad that I won’t be injecting Goto vs Ishii directly into my veins this year, but instead I get Shingo vs Ishii, so all is well and my body is ready.
Suzuki’s back, hail to the King...but are we finally going to get that “Maybe it should be Taichi-gun” tension?
I’m VERY intrigued by EVIL vs KENTA, and what lies ahead for Bullet Club. Similar with Jay White; he’ll have some kind of scheme cooked up to remind the Japanese crowd he’s still a major factor and will get something set up for the build to Wrestle Kingdom.
We also have a bit of hostility brewing with the CHAOS boys over the 6-man belts, I’d love to see that boil over. YOSHI-HASHI having a solid showing would be big for him, he has some good matches in his last G1 but with a title now around his waist for the first time he needs to ride that momentum to something greater.
Most importantly, I know they haven’t been around thanks to COVID, but if things are safe, Gedo, you MUST give us Taichi and Miho against Big Yuj and Pieter. It’s the one true mega-draw dream match left in this damn industry!

The discrepancy in talent between the Blocks is really jarring. In A Block alone we're gonna get: Okada/Shingo Ibushi/Shingo Shingo/Ospreay Shingo/Suzuki Shingo/Ishii Ishii/Okada Ishii/Ospreay Ishii/Ibushi Ibushi/Ospreay Ibushi/Suzuki Okada/Suzuki Ospreay/Suzuki Ishii/Cobb Shingo/Cobb Ibushi/Cobb Suzuki/Cobb
And Jay and Taichi are capable of having great matches with any of the others.
In B Block the only matches that really interest me are SANADA/Naito and Naito/Tanahashi- everything else has either been done or isn't really that interesting.

I really don't know how Yujiro, who's done nothing or been in any feuds for six years has gotten in.
