Dolphins are reportedly talking to Aaron Jones about getting him from Green Bay since he's a UFA. Um.....according to league rules the only team that can talk to him about anything right now is the Packers.

I can’t believe the Niners might somehow improve their position in the division simply by sitting back, picking their collective noses and pretending JimmyG is the answer at QB.
Kind of shocked at what’s going down in Seattle.

Russ Wilson and Seattle drama has seemingly come out of nowhere fast
Never see this many star QBs have problems and potentially want to leave their franchises. This includes Rodgers in Green Bay
I think a part of it as well is that TB12 move and subsequent championship has shown the grass can be greener on the other side

Seattle and Green Bay and been looking pretty damn lazy riding Russ/Aaron's jockstraps for a couple years now. Green Bay especially. They act like the most entitled franchise in the NFL because they had back-2-back first ballot Hall of Fame QB's (with long careers) and it's looking like they will only get 1 Superbowl each. They are on the cusp of having Hall of Fame Talent at QB for 30 freaking years straight. And that's all they got. Is any other franchise even close to that amount of QB talent with that few Superbowls?

Is any other franchise even close to that amount of QB talent with that few Superbowls? Yea, I can pretty much agree with this. The book has been for years once a QB gets paid, the team starts getting tight with the checkbook and not want to pay for weapons or talent in general Russ hasn't had an OLine and Seattle ripped the defense apart after they paid him. DeShaun Watson doesn't have an OLine and they traded his best weapon which was a top 3 WR in the league cause they didn't want to pay him. A-Rod hasn't gotten any weapons or subsequent significant help on top of them drafting a QB. TB12 was forced to carry less than ideal talent because Bill wasn't paying for it. Etc. Etc....... If you have weapons and a defense and you just need a QB, you will gladly pay the price right now

Yuck.

Except some of the teams we're seeing leaked out there as potential destinations for Russell Wilson or Deshaun Watson are some of the most recently (and historically) incompetent franchises in the NFL. What good would it do for Wilson or Watson to be the biggest fish if your pond is Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, or the Jets? Is it really about winning or is it about getting in the biggest city with the brightest lights? Because the Bears have been bumbling around with Ryan Pace on the hot seat for years now, Dallas hasn't advanced to the NFC Championship since Russell Wilson was in elementary school, Las Vegas hasn't won a playoff game since division realignment, and the Jets are THE JETS (I don't need to go into detail about their incompetence). Sure, those teams are "hungry" for a win and will do anything to get Wilson or Watson, but there's no proof that they'll know what to do with a star quarterback once they have one.

Is any other franchise even close to that amount of QB talent with that few Superbowls? A lot of that falls on the feet of Ted Thompson. He pretended free agency didn't exist. It also didn't really help that Mike McCarthy coached both Favre and Rodgers, which is a huge detriment to them and the rest of the team. Mike Sherman and Ray Rhodes wasted Favre at his best.

Sure, those teams are "hungry" for a win and will do anything to get Wilson or Watson, but there's no proof that they'll know what to do with a star quarterback once they have one. I think those teams being hungry is exactly why they want to go there. These QBs who want to move on are all signed already so they can go to a hungry franchise see it out for a few years and then move on if the disfunction and incompetence continues then from there they probably do a Manning/Brady and just be a hired gun to get a ring or 2. Plus the upside of say going to one of these downtrodden franchises would be even if it didn't work out over the course of the contract they know they'd have actual power in said organization since these teams don't have the luxury of pissing of star talent. Players want more say and power in decisions made that effects the team, need a new coach or FA signings. You think if the Jets managed to get Watson they wouldn't use all their cap space to make him happier, they haven't had a QB like Watson since Namath (you can argue about how overrated he is or not but the man is one of the very few bright spots for my team) so I doubt Woody who wants to sit at the big boy table instead of the kids table with Davis, the ford's, etc would do what the Texans did with Watson. Lastly if they win it all on a team like you mentioned that cements their legacy. That 2016 Cubs team is the perfect example, that team will forever be remembered in baseball history for what they accomplished. You win a SB for say the Jets, Lions, Browns you'll never be forgotten by the sport. Look no further to who I mentioned earlier with Namath.

I think Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers would be quick to learn that the grass isn't always greener. They'd be moving on from stable franchises with a recent track record of winning to relatively inept franchises that, as I said, haven't proven that they'd know what to do with an elite quarterback once they have one. Look at the Jets for example. No one's ever going to put Mark Sanchez or Sam Darnold on the same level as Russell Wilson or Deshaun Watson, but the Jets did no favors to improve either. Sanchez never got better than he was in his first two seasons and Darnold came in to the league as a hot commodity and he's gotten progressively worse with each passing year. Who's to say that if they get Wilson or Watson that they won't do what they did with Sanchez and Darnold - that is, shrug their shoulders and say "Yeah, we're good now." I'm sure Watson, Wilson, and Rodgers would love to have total control over a team's roster moves, draft picks, and coaching hires, but these are 53-man teams, and if you're going all-in with receivers and running backs to please your star quarterback, you're inevitably going to make sacrifices on the offensive line or across the defense. Look at the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. They had Patrick Mahomes and an absolutely stacked collection of runners and pass catchers, but they got shut down offensively because they didn't have an offensive line worth a damn. And look at the Packers with Aaron Rodgers and their draft selection of Jordan Love. Sure, a backup quarterback in the first round probably didn't please Rodgers, but the Packers as an organization need to plan for the future, because Aaron Rodgers won't be there forever. It's not a pick that's going to make your star quarterback happy, but it's a pick that'll help you transition into life after the star quarterback. Look no further than my Patriots as to what can happen when a team has no contingency plan for life after the star quarterback. And last but not least, going all-in and exhausting every last dollar of cap space doesn't mean you're assured success. Look at the countless teams that went "all in," failed to win a Super Bowl, and were left in tatters because of that decision - the 2010 "Dream Team" Eagles are the prime example, but there are others you can point to and say, "They went for it, failed, and now they're doomed."

Alex Smith is not going back to the WFT
Looks like someone will pick up a quality QB for at least a year. If San Fran can't get Watson, I can see a reunion with Smith who should cost less than Jimmy G

Hell after the fact they wasted Felix Hernandez whole career and never once made the postseason.

Then they met the Yankees in the ALCS and yeah.
