I doubt I get either at all. Might get whatever Nintendo does as their next console. But between my backlog of games and stuff I got plenty to play. Today did have me wondering what Nintendo will do down the road. I’m assuming the Switch has a lot more years to come. There has been heavy rumors of a Switch PRO on the horizon with the big features being 1080p resolution in handheld mode and 4K resolution in TV mode.

I'm going to probably go with both.
I would lean X-Box, as I've been in the Xbox ecosystem since the first Xbox, but I'm just getting tired of missing out on too many games.
But, since I have the option to be able to get both, that's my plan.

I will probably go with the PS5 as soon as the point is reached that they won't do updates for the PS4 anymore.

I’m not considering either until they get their eventual remodels and lower prices.
Particularly the PS5, because it still just looks ugly as sin to me. Yeah the Xbox Serieses(Seriesi?) are just boxes, but that at least means they’ll actually fit with the rest of my consoles. The current Seto Kaiba popped color Wi-Fi router shape of the PS5 ain’t fitting any-god damn-where in my set up.

The thing for me with Nintendo is, frankly, I don't really want them to do something different than the Switch. Even just the concept of a portable console you can dock to play games on the TV is too good to move on from completely. If they did like, PlayStation style-revisions where they improved the specs (which the 4K model sounds like that's where they're leaning), cool, but I really don't want them to move from the platform. And I mean, they could still do weird consoles if they wanted. Hell, the ring controller for the Switch is plenty Nintendo-weird.

I’ve usually been a Sony household lately, but after that sick ass FFXVI trailer? The PS5 is definitely my first pick at the moment.

I've been a PC/Nintendo combo player only since the end of the PS2. I find it gives me by FAR the best coverage of games. I can count on a single hand the amount of games i wanted to play but can't over 15+ years.
That said, I'm not against XBOX or Playstation, I'm just too much of a cheapass to get a 3rd gaming system. Although as I get older and have more income I've been fairly close to doing so. If a console really nails the VR hardware with some amazing games to go with it, that will be when I make that jump.

Most likely a PS5, pretty much entirely because the stuff I tend to care about like Persona and Danganronpa is substantially more likely to end up there than on Xbox.
Though for the time being I don't really see any reason to buy either. I'll get a PS5 eventually but it won't be for awhile. ... Hopefully there'll be a new model before I do get around to it because that thing is goddamn hideous to look at.

After the long life of the WII and how the WII U bombed I am betting something is out in 4 years to replace the Switch.

I'm buying Series X first.... but will probably get the PS5 down the line (I've owned both the past two generations).

Honestly it feels more and more like everyone is doing their own thing now. Microsoft is focusing on linking home systems and PC gaming along with being strong on their Xbox Game Pass service. Sony is focused more on big first party hits and exclusives, and Nintendo has been minding their own business since the Wii. There's competition but I don't see Sony and Microsoft wanting to kill each other like they use to. Feels more like an argument or conflict rather than an all out war now a days.
It's only a war because we have too many "your system sucks, my system rules" people speaking loudly.

I'll get a PS5, but not right away as it's launching in Canada at $650 for the one with the disk drive and $500 Canadian for the digital version. Which is a chunk of change I'd rather be spending on the essentials right now. Yeah. Was just coming to post that it’s $630 and $499 for the respective PS5’s in Canada. Haven’t seen X-Box prices but I assume $600 for Series X and 400 for Series S. Microsoft has shown in the past they’ll take a slightly bigger loss in Canada to keep a nice round price, as when Sony bumped the PS4 from $400 to $450 XBox One stayed at $400 despite the exchange rate going to shit.

I've wanted a PS5 sense people started whispering about it. I don't see myself getting one until March at the earliest.

Interesting note is that you're actually starting to see some cooperation between the three console makers, like being able to access Xbox Live on your Switch and Sony first party games ending up on PC and, in the case of MLB The Show, even other consoles. There's also going to be more pressure than ever to allow for cross-play between PC and the different consoles.
