I didn't expect a match of the year contender from Best Friends of all people, but 2020 is a weird year.

Something about good guys winning that like...goodly and cathartically, Sue avenged with a new van and she gets to flip them off...like it's a lost art in US wrestling having a storyline go like this with a good guys win moment this good narratively. Seriously. Even at ROH's height, the only time I can remember them pulling off something like this was CM Punk vs. Jimmy Rave. That was a pretty good match, and ended with the completely insane superplex off the top of the cage, and had Punk with the hometown Chicago reaction against Rave's reliable heel heat - it had everything in its favor, really. And it still doesn't compare to how satisfying it was to watch friggin' Trent? hit his finish to avenge his mom's van. Like...I'm thinking back to my early days as a fan, the build to Wrestlemania X7. Even then, they pulled the rug out from under fans' feet with Stone Cold twice in about two months (with Triple H winning their blowoff match and then Austin turning heel against the Rock), blew off the epic Edge & Christian/Hardyz/Dudleyz year-long rivalry with the heels winning their third out of three major matches, built a tremendous Angle/Benoit feud that could only end with an Angle victory due to how they booked it...and that was the WWF at their peak. I struggle to think of any feud that the faces outright won during a very hot period - the only one coming to mind immediately is Chyna defeating Ivory and RTC, but even then, Chyna turned heel immediately afterward! Maybe Jericho beating Kane in a feud that's only remembered for how goofy its beginning was? AEW is making very good use of wrestling's narrative tools, and Tony Khan repeatedly shows that he understands that a big face victory really, really matters.

Feels like AEW are taking the bullshit WWE 'smiles on faces' line and making it a reality. Just some feel good TV right there.

I think this is where Tony being a WCW mark comes out in that Dynamite is booked so you are invested in the show every week, and that it feels like missing a week as a viewer is big. The biggest issue I have with WWE on screen is that I dont feel like I'm missing anything if I do not watch. I dont get the same feeling with AEW

I think about how WWE says they want to put smiles on people’s faces during the pandemic, when it seems AEW’s the one promotion actually trying to put that theory into practice.

You can literally not watch a single Raw or SD, and get caught up on the PPV in a minute.

I have literally every episode of dynamite that’s ever aired sitting on my DVR with protected/never delete status. I have only missed a live airing maybe 3 times in the last year...and one of those was because I was in a f***ing car wreck 45 minutes before it went ont he air driving back from getting ice cream with my son....another one was because my son and I were in attendance at the damn show 😂 I haven’t been this invested in a tv show, nevermind wrestling show, in YEEEEARS.

Chuck desperately hitting the trunk release on the keys in his right hand is a detail I am never going to not see after it was pointed out to me.

What made this such a great match was all the storytelling in that brutality. It wasn't just violence for the sake of violence. It was two teams that despised each other with things escalating to this point. It was everything that debacle of a match between Sammy Guevara and Matt Hardy should've been.
