The Hardcore Legend himself Mick Foley is praising the match

Only way that ending would have been better is if Sue had handed them all milkshakes as they got to the van. Yes, I know, cookies, but milkshakes seem more celebratory. She could have taken them to Johnny Rocket's afterwards, you don't know.

Without hyperbole, the best parking lot street fight this century, possibly ever.
Everything meant something, I have so many visuals burned into my head, just absolutely perfect.

BTW, shout out to Proud N Powerful for being the foils that Best Friends needed and deserved and for putting the work in that match too. Both teams were on their a-game tonight.

That match was genius from top to bottom.
The Best Friends had basically seemed like "goofs with the hugging gimmick" up until this point, and when Sue first showed up in the van I was cringing due to years of WWE storytelling.
Instead, they used something humorous to build heat. After all, wouldn't you want to kick someone's ass if they messed up your mama's car? It finally gave Best Friends something to sink their teeth in to, and a moment to show that goofy mama's boys have limits.
The match itself was logical hardcore, with few moments of contrivance that destroy the drama. Trent convulsing after the pin legit looked scary. The thing with a hardcore match is that while they shouldn't happen often, they need to look absolutely brutal when they do. The match succeeded at that in spades.

Hardy vs. Guevara aside, AEW’s backstage brawl matches have been really great.

So fun match. Loved the froggy like splash on top of the car and powerbomb thru glass! Reminded me so much of Cena vs. Eddie and times I've played this match mode in wrestling games. ORANGE APPEARING WAS THE ICING ON THE CAKE! And LOL @ they leaving w/ Middle Finger Mom!

Excellent way to end the show and feud, one of the best street fight matches I have seen. Orange Cassidy and the Middle Finger from Sue were just icing on a well made cake.

Holy crap, that was brutal.
I like how this elevates Chuck and Trent as not just being those guys that hang out with Orange.

Couple notes from Meltzer
The original feud was supposed to be PNP and the Lucha Bros but Santana and Ortiz wanted to get Trent and Chuck over and the Lucha Bros agreed that the Best Friends deserved the rub
The match was put together by Tony Khan and Jerry Lynn.

Just watched. It was pretty good but not my favorite thing ever. There was definitely cool stuff in it, enough to make it work as spectacle, but I didn't love it mostly just since it felt rather aimless at points and it probably could've been five minutes shorter.
Still, definitely a lot more good than bad, some really creative stuff in there.

It's funny, I really like the Lucha Bros, of course, but I feel like this match and build (granted, the build would likely be different) works better for the Best Friends, since they had a lot to prove when it comes to their toughness and mean streak.

Let's talk about something AEW also does really well. When it's the FINAL BATTLE, there is a great result, the faces won this war, and they deserved to, and had a happy ending, where the woman whose Van also got destroyed, had the final word, it was just perfect storytelling between these two teams, and the perfect main event to leave a satisfying taste in the mouthes of the fans who watched it and watched the story unfold over weeks Another note I hope it touched on, Best Friends had Cassidy to watch their backs, no one from the Inner Circle had Santana and Ortiz's backs... The only thing I want to add in regards to AEW blowoff matches is that they manage to have a definitive feud winner without making the other person look bad. Like, Best Friends defeated Santana and Ortiz, but Santana and Ortiz still look like bad asses that you wouldn't want to mess with.

I thought it was booked best friends vs Lucha bros right before the pandemic?? It was then Lucha Bros couldn’t travel. I find the whole quote by Meltzer to be strange. Lucha Bros and PnP are both heel teams. I’m not sure how a feud with them would have even started and why PnP who also could use a push would be the ones to fight for elevating Best Friends. Just seems odd.

God damn, if true give them boys a raise. P&P have been my favorite tag team in AEW from the get-go but there is no doubt they helped make Best Friends last night.

I think this is where Tony being a WCW mark comes out in that Dynamite is booked so you are invested in the show every week, and that it feels like missing a week as a viewer is big. The biggest issue I have with WWE on screen is that I dont feel like I'm missing anything if I do not watch. I dont get the same feeling with AEW I've been saying this for years. You can literally not watch a single Raw or SD, and get caught up on the PPV in a minute. That's basically what I've been doing since Mania..... while I'm watching each AEW show. I want to be a WWE guy, but their weekly shows are boring.

This just show how different the dynamic is from WWE. I often see people arguing "Who would ever choose to not be pushed to the top?!". This right here is the kinda of locker room I would like to be part of.
