(Sorry, I just always feel like posting a gif of Broken Matt every time this happens.) It's certainly an acceptable way of letting me (and others) know of my (our) error.

I missed part of it, but Cutler was discussing this match on his Twitch stream during a game of Fall Guys and discussed how none of the car windows were gimmicked (he was discussing the sledgehammer thrown through the window) and mentioned Trent apparently believed the windshield wouldn't break when he was thrown into it. "When he said that to me, I was like, 'No, I would assume a body hitting a window would crack it like that."
So...there's that.

That would explain all the blood. Didn’t Goldberg almost bleed out from a nongimmicked car window in WCW?

Like, obviously they're not built to protect someone being slammed onto it, but they don't want a bird or something to go right through the windshield if you crashed into it, or a rock being kicked up by a car in front of you.

I've been down on hardcore matches for a long time but that was amazing. I think there's something about tag teams in gimmick matches that cover logic gaps that often occur in singles competition.
That said not using gimmicks glass was stupid.

Even Foley's calling it one of the best street fights of all time.

Absolutely believed he was in pain from the reaction and I guess he was lol

Damn I clearly need to go watch this match, because there was nothing less of a draw to me than this Angry Blood Feud by the guys whose gimmick is hugging.
I'm not saying never do that with these characters, but I enjoyed them as being goofballs and would've been happy having them kinda be fun-loving for a while longer before getting into this kind of blood feud with somebody. It feels like going to this well a bit soon.
Still going to watch the match though, six pages of saying it's good is enough to convince me!

They honestly felt kind of lame-duck going into the title match with Kenny/Page. I didn’t know/think they needed this either but god damn if it hasn’t lit them up.

That said not using gimmicks glass was stupid. Gimmicked glass would have been worse than the real thing. It’s sugar and breaks incredibly easy. A gimmicked windshield would have never been able to absorb any of the moves they did and everyone would have end up flying threw the front windshield and into the back seat. Probably breaking their necks along the way. Remember that HHH wanted to use gimmicked barbed wire in his street fight against Cactus Jack. It ended up cutting his forehead up worse then what real barb wired would have.

At least there was a clear escalation point to this match with PnP wrecking Sue’s car, bleaching their attire, and repeatedly attacking their friend.

Y'know...this is also the first time in a while that I can remember midcarders being so well elevated by opponents who are on their level.
Best Friends didn't need a rub from a "bigger" team. The only teams that "outrank" the Best Friends are FTR, the Bucks, and maybe the Dark Order. None of those teams can really afford to lose to the Best Friends right now. Additionally, Trent? has a well protected finisher, they had a big long streak of wins culminating in a main event challenge for the tag titles, they've been kept high in the ranking...the Best Friends, much like Scorpio Sky, had gotten as far as they could get with wins and dominance, but they still felt like a lower card act getting propped up.
And then they had a feud with some actual stakes and heat - a feud against a team that has struggled to stay relevant and threatening as the division has expanded. Santana and Ortiz came out of this feud looking good, too. In terms of wins, each team has one win over the other, so they come out equal - except that the Best Friends got such a satisfying win in that last match that they can say they won the war. The result: the Best Friends look like a more rounded main event act, Santana and Ortiz have outright beaten a main event act.
This really is a gem of a feud that elevated everyone.

I think it works here because Santana and Ortiz escalated things with them and wouldn't leave well enough alone.
