The non-fun idea is obviously, it allowed for a unique, alternate look at the events of the first movie. Movie Kayfabe Idea: If they went back in time to that specific day, both Marty and Doc knew the events of that day, where Biff would be and would give them the most opportunities in a day to get the alamanac back. Also, since Marty (Calvin Klein) was there and became an established part of that timeline, that was also the last day before he could just "disappear" and nobody would ever see him again. Assuming the hazy memories of "Calvin Klein" in 1955 faded quickly, Marty was sure lucky no yearbook photographer caught him playing "Johnny B. Goode" on-stage during the dance. That would have been wild if the McFly family took a trip down memory lane anything after 1984 and a saw a deadringer doppelganger for their son! Also, did anyone even question if "Calvin" was actually a student or just a high school-aged drifter passing through town who couldn't pass up a date? There's a scene in the movie where Doc acts as his Uncle and enrolls Marty in the school, so there was no reason for anybody to question that. Of course this opens up the question of how Doc explained away "Calvin Klein's" disappearance after the dance to everybody, including the police.

Ok, I was wrong, that scene didn't happen. Or at least not how I remember. Been awhile since I watched the movie, so I just checked it on Netflix. I was thinking of the scene where Doc and Marty go to the High School about halfway through the movie and Marty shows Doc what's going on with George and Lorraine for the first time. For some reason I remember Doc saying one of the reasons he went with Marty was to enroll him. But it's never actually said or shown. I guess I got the "uncle" thing from the later scene where Marty introduces Doc to Lorraine as his uncle.

I always took it as they were just trying to get it out of his hands as fast as possible.
If you immediately follow him after he gets it, you have a much better chance of tracking it down. Wait even a day or so, and he might stash it somewhere.

What’s more amazing is not a single thing in the book changed. Biff’s actions had no bearing on the sporting world.

Not to mention, wouldn't some people get suspicious about a guy who keeps winning all the time? They wouldn't call him an "oracle", they would probably think he's in on the action and assume there's a lot of fixing in those sports. Or, some people may get angry or go after young Biff and attack him, leading to a possible early demise (and time paradox, which was what they tried to do in the movie where 2015 Biff died in the Bad Timeline).

Wait even a day or so, and he might stash it somewhere. Or write some of the winners down or otherwise copy it somehow. What’s more amazing is not a single thing in the book changed. Biff’s actions had no bearing on the sporting world. Even if it did the book would change to match, like Marty's picture.

He was smart enough to diversify. He got into gaming and toxic waste.
