Isn't Cena hosting a show on TBS?IF it were to happen, maybe it would just be a cross promotion to get that show more views. Either way, I don't see Cena wrestling full time for any company since he probably wants to focus more on his acting career. Yeah, I think this is the likely source of the rumors. One rumor I heard is that Jericho helped him get the hosting position as part of the larger deal with AEW, make of that what you will. That's a weird rumor. I think Jericho would ask Cena for help, if anything, not the other way around. John Cena could go to most cable networks and be like hey, I want to host a TV show, and people would be game.

"Cena would be a huge 'get' for AEW, and as such he should be guaranteed 60% of all pre-cost money AEW makes for the next 38 years to make sure he signs" -Eric Bischoff, probably.

If this doesn't happen in a full arena, why bother.
Tony Khan, Jericho, Cena, Cody, Brandi and all of AEW would bathe in the fan reaction to that like it was a Lazarus Pit and they'd all live forever.

Cena embarrassing Jericho every week on Dynamite and playing the Bugs to Y2J's Daffy wouldn't ever become stagnant at all. It'd be ratings gold.

The people who say Cena is loyal to WWE, well, you’re not wrong, but it wasn’t that long ago that Cena was publicly saying he was ready to retire from WWE and wrestling in general.
Like, he still wrestled a couple of times after that but considering how he’s been treated the last few years, I wouldn’t exactly blame him if he were to cameo for another company for a one off.
Like I said, I can’t see him signing a long term contract but a wink nudge ad with Cody promoting Turner’s new game shows wouldn’t be ruled out.

I could see him making an appearance, MAYBE. But any kind of run? I doubt it.

Don't forget complete creative control of all angles, with the power to nix spots in matches and feuds that don't involve him in any way, and the ability to skip weeks of programming when the audience share is usually down then return to prove what a draw he is, by getting better ratings when they no longer have to face competition.

If I could choose only one match out of Cena, it would be the Orange Cassidy match.

"He's done with wrestling and trying to become an actor." This is what people said about Hulk Hogan before he signed with WCW.
The circumstances aren't the same, but I don't believe in saying "never".

I mean, that's just boiler-plate contract stuff! Also speaking of boiling, I believe there's a codicil about any set that has water special effects must contain water that is room temperature, so that it is NOT HOT!

I think Cena is too loyal to WWE to even make a 1 time appearance in AEW, Even if it was to promote his show.

John Cena is at a B/C tier of celeb where he can make money without the WWE by having parts in movies and hosting tv shows. He maybe can upgrade his status if he hits the right role (Like Batista with Drax) but the WWE is not what will heave him above or even keep him at this level. WWE would be a pay check or something to fill his schedule. Is that enough for him to actually shun them and appear on AEW proper? I doubt it. Best AEW gets is a taped promo on the set of his TBS show that is made for them.

Even then, his last “match” was a cinematic-style promo that really didn’t require much in the way of physical bumping.

So I'm insanely out of the loop on just about any and all things wrestling at the moment, havent really even watched AEW since they got rid of the audience... so maybe there are hints of evidence that Cena would show up in AEW..
But I just doubt this has any legs at all. Even if Cena was "done" with WWE theres no doubt in my mind that they try and dump astronomical amounts of money into a contract where he remains an ambassador at the very least. Other than I guess Brock and a few others, Cena has been Vince's golden goose for how long now? He likely has a source of income from them for the rest of his life if he wants, and him showing up in AEW would probably come close to torching that bridge.
Not to mention.. what does he offer there? He would need a major overhaul in not only his gimmick but appearance too. I dont think too many people that are into AEW would want a guy who essentially represents WWE's cookie cutter, homogenized style running around over there. I feel like it would obviously bump ratings for a little while, but then plateau off just like any other time a big debut happens. Probably not quite as bad as TNA had done, but the landscape of entertainment is so full and varied now that results like Hogan turning heel in WCW are a thing of the past.
Seems like it would cost a shit ton of money, and fall super short of what the goal would be in bringing him in.
