Not sure pointing out how old and used up Jericho is is a good idea. I'm already bored of seeing him, reminding me that the reason for that is decades of exposure is not making me desire to watch

Since Turner can rebroadcast anything that used to air on their networks, can AEW use wcw footage for this?

Btw if Jericho is really going with the Fozzy tour next month then this show would be perfect to write him off.

Regularly draws the best ratings, lynchpin to solid PPV numbers, etc. Focusing a whole show around him is an objectively great idea.

Since Turner can rebroadcast anything that used to air on their networks, can AEW use wcw footage for this? They would need an agreement with WWE to show it. A network is only allowed to show footage (on entertainment programs at least) as long as it has contractual rights to do so, even if they’ve aired it in the past. If Turner still owned the WCW content, it would be different. But since it was sold off to WWE, TNT would need WWE’s permission to air it now.

But he is the only reason I tend to turn off AEW. To me, it would be concerning that my biggest draw is a past his prime blown up and blown out gas bag like Jericho when I'm trying to hard to get my youth talent over. I feel like they should be phasing him out, not using him more - though that is because I am done with him, I fully understand why they are doing it from a business/ratings/majority point of view.

You realise that 30 Years of Jericho is them doing a one off celebration of a momentous occasion and not a statement of intent going forward, right?

I for one can't wait for the Unspecified Anniversary of Jericho, where we celebrate an enduring career and a man who can still perform as a draw on the big stage all this time later, however that long that time is. Probably shouldn't say the number out loud, people might think he's old if we do that. We can't let people think the main veteran talent in the promotion is old, right?

He's already moved from main event talent to teaming with Hager against Private Party.... How much more phased out do you want him? He's only had one complete dud since coming back (Orange #2) and gets their highest ratings

Jericho, no matter what age, should be a centerpiece of a promotion. A few people may not like it, but a hell of a lot more people love and/or respect Jericho and what he brings. His merch sells, his jokes go viral, and his matches/segments are the most viewed. That doesn't change because one or two out of 20 people don't like it.

Jericho as a face in AEW feels natural right now and giving him MJF to work against seems like it could be fun. I wonder if this has always been the endgame because Jericho fought AEW on putting MJF in the Inner Circle in the first place.

[br Yeah I don’t think it’s a bad thing to point out how long he’s been on top. WWE did something similar for Triple H’s 25 years celebration last year and they’ve done things like that for Taker in the past. It’s to show reverence to a true legend, and in this case, I’m sure it will be to further a storyline.

Yeah he should still be featured and using him to get over new talent is the way it should be. He’s about run out of fresh feuds as a heel so I think having him turn face for a run until his contract expires at the end of 2021 is the right call. I assume he’ll then want to go back to the E for one last hurrah if he can still go in the ring.

When he is done in ring, he wants to transition to announcing. He can still work Japan, do his music, he's a top feature of one of the biggest shows on TV, he has a ton of control over his character, Turner will probably use him for shows, and makes more money then he has ever made. I'm not sure a run on Raw being written by Vince would be all that appealing, but who knows what the future holds.

Not only to further a storyline, but if there's anyone who's not going to book himself a dicksuck segment where he stands tall as the coolest ever, it's going to be Jericho. Dude's not coming out of this segment as the ultimate badass, this is setting him up for a fall. To me, that helps it along a lot.

Well of course he’s going to say he’s happy with AEW and wants to stay long term while he’s there, but I think Jericho is really not going to burn his bridge with WWE and the longer he stays away in the rival company, the worse that bridge may get. I also think he’s big on legacy and would like to have a big retirement match if possible in the E, and then a subsequent HOF induction. I could be wrong but I’ve always thought that he’ll go back, if not at the end of this contract then certainly after his next.
