I don’t *hate* hate FTR, they’re just working me. I’m being a mark. They’re technically doing their jobs right. And I don’t have any real issues with their matches usually.
They are the kind of heels that need to be deflated by a fun babyface now and then, though. It’s more enjoyable for me to mock them, because they’re so serious.
They’re not the type of bad guys I’m gonna get behind, like a Jericho who’s over the top, or a Minoru Suzuki, who’s a madman and comes off like an awesome anime boss villain.
FTR are those mid-tier villains who can hold their own but are too full of themselves, and eventually get foiled.

I feel like every heel act except for like one in AEW has to have a comedy slant to it and boy it’s tiring.
I get it. They want to make money off of merch and a straight heel is harder to market so you gotta do goofy meme stuff but I’m bored with it. “THEYRE MURDEROUS SERIOUS KILLERS!! .......but they loooooove Chuck E Cheese and reference it in skits.”

Wow people really hate FTR here. I find them refreshing and different than the other teams. I’ve enjoyed them and most of their matches are good in my opinion. Tully definitely helps their image too. That's because for years, they were hyped as a throwback to 80s tag teams and they did pretty good in NXT. Getting called up to the main roster ruined whatever made them stand out. They're just another tag team in AEW to me.

I mentioned Suzuki earlier, but that’s the kind of air a few more of their heels need. He has a butt-ton of comedy matches on his record but he’s always Suzuki during them, playing up the “comically serious” straight person who doesn’t have time for your BS.

FTR are just boring put simply. When people say no psychology I feel like that is FTR.
no character work ,no psychologymThe old school version of a spot monkey I guess.
SCU vs FTR will be the first time I actually will do something else because I dont wanna watch something in AEW.FTR is not interesting,SCU is not interesting.changing the rules because OLD SCHOOL is not interesting.Which annoys me because both those teams won the tag titles ,what a HUGE waste given the amazing teams they have
It is no wonder people dont like their characters, they have nothing going for it.

Outside of the title celebration, which was FTR acting intentionally over the top and antagonistic to piss off the other tag teams and set up future matches, I'm not really seeing where the "they're just giant cornballs now" thing is coming from.
But I also like their style in the ring, I dig a mid-Atlantic territory style and I appreciate that they seem to attempt to hit their basic moves with a Bret Hart-influenced crispness and I like how it contrasts with a lot of the other current teams. Thumbs up.
And yes, Chuck Taylor can get almost anything over, and I think where he, Trent, and Orange work so well for a lot of people is that they come across as pretty genuine in terms of personality, and also as the personification of 2020s older Millenial-ness...saying that as an older Millenial, myself.

Because besides the moment they wrre cornballs there is really nothing else to remember they by.They dont know how to act thought or dastardly. History wise they are supposed to be inctedibly vile given what they did to Page and The Bucks, but they never come across as such.

I can't say I've ever been a huge fan of theirs, felt like once I'd seen one of their matches with DIY/AA, I'd seen every heel spot they knew of repeated several times a match for false finishes, but personally the point where I really started to dislike them was when they started openly pandering to a certain 80s manager and his cult. And given that whole mindset is pretty much their entire gimmick, it's hard to say that the Flava Flav clocks would have been any less demeaning.

He was doing it in NXT before they were called up and ruined. He needs to show more of that here. FTR are too "nice". More brutality. Do a parking lot arm break or something.

They did dastadly heelish stories in NXT but they never showed that in their character,it was always"we are really old school and really good!"

I still can't believe they actually found a name worse than Dash Wilder... but... they did... Scott Dawson's fit the Revival schtick perfectly... and it's a hell of a lot beter than DAX.

I find them to be terribly boring.. I know it’s a gimmick, but I hate the “old school” attitude and the fact that they went on Cornette’s podcast after their first AEW appearance didn’t win any points with me either. Plus I’m a bit bitter because I’m a huge Best Friends fan and I watched them carry the division on their backs during this pandemic and really do believe they deserved to beat Kenny and Hangman for the titles, not FTR.
Anyway, the FTR/Bucks feud doesn’t need titles. Let Best Friends have them.

There are some straight heels though. Archer, Cage, Starks, Lucha Bros., Pac even though he's AWOL.

These guys want to sell merchandise on PWT and it’s easier to sell shirts of funny stuff but personally, eh. Not my thing and there’s a bit too much of it.

I feel that all members of The Elite should get title reigns before they retire, but after the huge Parking Lot Brawl win, Best Friends are more worthy of beating FTR for the Tag titles.

For how much AEW likes to build talent to win their titles , FTR just waltzed above everyone else without proving they are worth a damn.(And not in Kayfabe,in Kayfabe they got it on their on merits). When so many of their tag teams have show why they should win it.

I honestly love FTR. Their match against Omega abs Page - when they pretended to tag behind the back of the referee - this sort of hypocrisy after crying for rules. They are really despicable and do a fantastic job as heels.
