Holy crap. That was rough and incredible. I dunno where to even start. Pillman was right before the time I got into wrestling, so I’ve gathered the same ish you hear often spoken of him but this was a hell of a look into his life. Man. I would have been such a fan of that guy if I was watching wrestling at the time of his whole work/shoot nonsense. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}It’s great to see Meltzer have a big part in this. Like him or not, Meltzer’s role in wrestling is very pronounced and highlighted here.
The family stuff is..terrible. It felt almost wrong watching parts of that detailed. Like being a voyeur in terrible family life. Terrible.
Heartwarming to see Cornette bring up “smart marks” and not go on a curse-filled rant.
Holy Shit that Kim Wood guy. I don’t know how this comes off..but it kind of feels like that’s the kind of person a lot of people may need in life. Or to stay away from. I don’t know. He seems smart like a fox. But also..crazy? Dude. I don’t know. Incredible opener. This might be their best season yet. f***ing love this show.

After watching the first episode Brian and Melanie are garbage tier people. At least Brian was there for the kids. But Mealanie....

The best part of part one is Kim Wood talking about how Eric Bischoff views his (Eric's) role in Brian getting his release from WCW.

After seeing Brian Pillman Jr's mother, I can safely say thank god Pillman Jr. turned out nothing like her. He reportedly doesn't even talk to her, has cut all ties.
Given all the shit I've heard about her? Not even surprised. Shocked she even got a platform here.

I appreciate Dark Side giving every side a chance to say something, because if they didn't... I don't know if the New Jack or Nick Gage episodes could even get made either lol

The wrestling, and even football, stuff went by quickly. I get they focused a lot on personal stuff, though.
I guess reading the bio about Brian spoiled me.

Watching this episode, remembering Joey Styles’ story about Brian shutting on someone’s floor in ECW, and just other stories…
Brian Pillman might be prettt vilified in 2021 if he were alive. He seemed just a chaotic mess. A lot of the boys loved him, but he seemed like a prick.
As Cincinnati boy, I’ve always had a soft spot for him. Very much looking forward to next episode.

I’m halfway through the first episode, all I can think is “Did Melanie just put the crack pipe down before you rolled camera?”[/quote] As a man I would much rather spend the rest of my life with someone like Brian's sister than Melanie. I'm sure Brian enjoyed their relationship at the time but father time has not been kind to Melanie and for good reason. I can't believe that's the same women from the Raw memorial. She and Brian should have both been charged in a wrongful death lawsuit of his first life. And off course Vince McMahon fell for her being the kindly widow and built his show around her. I am someone who hated his Loose Cannon gimmick not just because I was disgusted as a former fan in how he acted but for him taking advantage of Bobby Heenan. If it had been Dusty or Jesse or any number of former wrestlers Brian messed with they would have fought back and the gimmick would have been killed right there on that WCW Clash. But Brian picked on someone he knew was vulnerable and would not fight back and to me for him doing that he was a piece of crap.

I know it’s not something that was needed to be included but I was expecting them mentioning his run in the horsemen or having the first match on Nitro.

Yeahhh..and if Cornettes talk with the Dark Side guys is anything to go by, it’s going to get a lot rougher for her in part 2. Apparently the “plane ride from hell” episode is going to be nuts too. I kind of hate this seasons split in two cause I want to watch them all yesterday.

I saw the producer’s quote about the plane ride episode, and yeah: it’s amazing to look back at that story and think how quickly some of it was brushed aside, given that “Ric Flair was nude under his robe and was flashing the flight attendants” was part of the story from the start. 2002 might not have been that long ago in the grand scheme of things, but on stuff like that it feels like a lifetime.

Brian Jr in interviews has made it quote clear that he felt his mom only cared about the money WWE sent for royalties and has a lot of resentment to her for that if nothing else as well

A&E's Biography is also doing a Warrior bio, wonder if Vice will schedule their Warrior ep to air the same week. Not really sure what Vice will be able to cover? Warrior was an incorrigible opinionated person that made bad business decisions and had outdated views on sexuality, religion, celebrity etc, but never really did anything outright illegal or criminal like some other subject matters covered by this series. By all means he was a devoted husband and father and for the longest time and put them before anything else. --- Just saw part 1 of the Pillman episode - fml Melanie Pillman! Also, I was at peak wrestling fandom at the time of his bait and switch Loose Cannon persona, but I never saw his tactics anymore or less than heelish wrestling stuff rather than "working the industry", but then again, I wasn't a smart mark. And Pillman's strength coach came up with all the Loose Cannon plays and they were trying to hustle Vince McMahon?? Sounds like bullshit.

I've been reading Brian's bio, as I said and yeah, the cracks show about Melanie there too. This is crazy talk, but...no one is completely innocent in this world, then?

Well as you said, there's his (infamous) online and public rants. I guess there's stories about him not being that great of a wrestler and a bit of a diva (off the top of my head, ones that can make it would be the Andre story and the real fight where Rude laid him out). Wonder if they use Bret's story about the Make A Wish kid too. Other than that...?? Now, given the apparent tone of the Savage A&E (I didn't watch it yet), I wonder if WWE saved the "hard hitting" docs for when DSOTR started. (though ALL of them should be like that given the subjects...since Austin is still with us I guess he stopped them from talking about certain things)

I want to say, realistically, nothing will come of it. Apparently some of the flight attendants settled (from what I’ve read) but does not look it’s going to be pretty for some.
