I didn't want the Magic to trade for Westbrook but I need to take this opportunity to rant about the Magic. I have no clue what the direction our management team is trying to take us in, we barely made the playoffs in a weak East and didn't make any significant moves well teams below us in the standings made major moves to try and improve so running it back seems like such a short sighted decision when I'm doubting we're remaining a playoff team, especially with Isaac's injury. Yet despite that we're still rolling a team centered around Gordon, Vucevic, Fournier, and Ross for what will be the 4th straight year. I think we need to tear it down and use this year to see what we have in Bamba, Fultz, Okeke, and Anthony but I at least want this front office to finally pick a lane and make some moves. Either tear it down or make some moves to improve the team but to keep rolling with a core still centered around players from the previous GM, that doesn't fit well together anyway, for the 4th year is just pathetic.

The Wizards ain't gonna be worldbeaters with this trade but my god imagine being the f***ing Knicks in the Atlantic now thanks to this trade? Talk about becoming the whipping boys of that division...

Aaron Gordon's value has declined seemingly every year and they're playing a dangerous game with Vooch given what happened with Adams in OKC. You hold onto a guy too long and the return might end up not being what you expected. He's played way better than Gordon, but it all depends on the market. Return for Capela and Adams hasn't been amazing.

That’s what everyone wants the Knicks to be. No quick fixes, no bullshit. Time to really buckle down and do a full on nasty rebuild like 76ers did

The thing is Orlando is just fine making the playoffs. They are honestly nowhere near a championship team so they aren’t killing future assets either They will pull deals but their players aren’t high in value. Gordon value isn’t nowhere near where it was and Vuc is good but that contract is big and a lot of teams have decent centers. Tho I believe nobody on that squad outside of Cole Anthony or Markelle Fultz will be on that team in 2 years

If they ended up with him, not only do they add the worst contract in basketball and a ballhog, but getting them a worse pick and delusions of playoffs by being a 9th seed in the East instead of top 8 lottery odds. Thibs might have them overachieve even without Russ, which might be to their detriment. As odd as it sounds to say, they could use another bad year and top pick.

I think they sell low on Issac That man, if he comes back healthy is going to be a defensive monster on a good team. Someone like Portland needs him

Isaac once he gets healthy. I think they sell low on Issac That man, if he comes back healthy is going to be a defensive monster on a good team. Someone like Portland needs him Portland just got Cov tho, who is like an older Isaac. They don't need to sell him, given he'll be under team control for a while and they're low on moveable premium assets like him and Vooch (that's literally it.) So unless they got a great offer, they should just keep him and build around him and Fultz, though as you know I'm also still sold on Anthony's potential.

So far, the upper management has passed the first test. They did not commit money or assets to rumored names like Oladipo or Westbrook because they could. Knicks have been stocking up picks for 2023. They have potentially 5 picks that year (2 first and 3 2nd round) and trying to add more Thibs probably wills this team to a few more wins then they should win because dude coaches hard but the belief right now is Knicks for the first time are thinking smart. They signed a bunch of one year deals and the only big contract on the books is Randle who will be gone either trade or let go next season I still think they take on a bad contract at some point to get more draft capital.

Yeah, there's no reason to not put that cap space to good use, especially during the pandemic where it's more valuable in most sports leagues. Thibs' problem is that you have Mitch, Frank, and Elfrid who are pretty good defenders that he'll like. The Knicks will play more competitive, but ugly ball. RJ will continue to chuck it while getting silly minutes. They're gonna put out more passable basketball during a great draft year while they were horrible during the worst draft since Anthony Bennett. Knicks just can't catch a break anywhere.

Isn't it great to have a league where everyone gets along unlike the NHL.
Gotta give credit to Silver and Roberts for getting this up an running again and so soon.
NHL at this rate, might as well sit out 20-21.

NBA sure took their sweet time but everything rounded together nicely Luckily the NBA is full of collusion so free agency ended up not being a factor in slowing the league down as I thought it would be

NHL at this rate, might as well sit out 20-21. Yeah, but the NBAPA knows where their bread is buttered. They've got a phenomenally responsive group of owners so not only is it easier to get a good deal from the owners, but the relationship is very solid and there's still some give and take. The NA sports leagues are very easily summed up rn. In the NFL, the league just railroads the players. In the MLB, the owners and players are ready to drop the gloves so to speak. In the NBA, the players have it made and they won't rock the boat too much because they know the league's asks are usually reasonable. The NHL is somewhere in-between. Bettman is a spineless buffoon, but the salaries were going up before Covid and the bubble was knocked out of the park. But the NHL is also less financially stable than the other leagues, so while they might not be able to afford a season without fans, they also might not be able to afford another work stoppage. They wouldn't fold, but it'd be a pretty big hit.

Kings picked up Marvin’s option, of course. Can’t wait to see how many games he doesn’t play this year after stubbing his toe or getting a hangnail.
