I’d say that Smackdown truly is the top show in WWE for the first time. Even more than last year when they first debuted on FOX. Whenever anyone got drafted from Raw to Smackdown this year (like the Street Prophets, Bianca Belair, and even Seth Rollins) it felt like they got promoted to Smackdown. I’d say this is a combination of the FOX deal and Smackdown currently telling better stories.

Yes. I think I saw the whole situation described as “WWE needs FOX as much as USA needs WWE”.

I don't think so. It should be, because it has a bigger viewership, and there's something to be said for having Reigns, Rollins + Mysterio, and Bayley + Sasha.
But the main show will always be Raw, because Vince.

The FOX Sports opening anthem intro that shows all the sports FOX has as part of their coverage includes WWE in it, so it’s clear that FOX at least sees some value with Smackdown.

Yes. I think I saw the whole situation described as “WWE needs FOX as much as USA needs WWE”. Honestly, this seems accurate. If USA lost WWE tomorrow, there goes its prime spot as one of the top cable networks in the US and it has nothing else right now to fall back on except reruns. FOX? Well, they’ll shrug and say “Eh, at least we tried something on Fridays and it kind of worked”.

i saw a rumor that the moves from the draft were to try and boost smackdown's ratings because fox was growing concerned about them. fox > usa when it comes to getting the wwe to do what they want i'd think

Raw might be three hours, but Smackdown's the clear top dog in terms of ratings and viewership. And from what I've heard from people who still watch, Smackdown is generally a better product on average, too. In spite of any objections or intentional sabotage Vince may try, the blue brand is the true "A Brand" now.

it certainly feels that way, however they dragged on the Rollins/Murphy/Mysterio family thing so....
but on talent alone it kind of feels that way, it's weird

They sent all the major stories to SD and sent everything they don't want to Raw which incuded pretty much all the women not named Sasha and Bayley.
Yea seems like A show treatment.

It’s 100% the A show while it’s on Fox. If they end up back on cable in 4 years, it’ll go back to Raw.

Yes. It’s been like this since FOX.
All I could think before, during and after the draft is “People get sent to Smackdown! to be showcased/Highlighted/Pushed. People get sent to RAW to fill out the buffet”.

The fact that Smackdown makes infinitely better use of its 2 hours a week vs Raw's 3 really speaks volumes about its writing and pacing.

Absolutely. Not question about it. On Raw you've got some dope superstars but it's clear that SD is just the lead show.

No. Raw will always be the flagship. Edge returning, retribution, Lesnar the bigger stories always happen there, it will always be Raw.

Clash of Champions was the first time for me where Raw didn't feel like it was going to be the PPV fallout, it was a long week waiting for the fallout of Reigns/Uso.
I definitely think it's the A show, but I also think Vince still has that thing about Smackdown where he kinda treats it like a WCW efed that he has to beat with "his" show Raw. We'll see how it goes at The One Night a Year Where Raw and Smackdown Go Head to Head™ and see if it's treated different there.

I think with USA and Fox wanting very different things from the WWE product, there really is no ‘A’ show anymore.
If WWE were ever going to call one show the ‘A’ show, it’ll be around the time for contract negotiations.

Looking that way when one show uses AC/DC & the other sounds generic. We'll see with RAW's intro, as SmackDown included legacy guys like Undertaker & Michaels.
