Good riddance. See ya! He started a fist fight with Georgiev after the game. Kreider stepped in and apparently TKO'd De'Angelo. More reports are coming out about De'Angelo - such as him being a massive dick to K'Andre Miller. He has a past of being suspended in the OHL for using racial slurs. He also collected Miller's puck for his first goal and still hasn't given it to him and may have thrown it out. During the player intros to the last game Miller was supposed to be lined up beside him and Miller skated to the other end of the line. No team wanted him over the summer, no team expected to pick him up now. Just to clarify - Trouba and Miller broke the fight up. The reports about how De'Angelo treated Miller aren't true. My apologies on that - I didn't see that the original source for that was Blueshirt Banter. That website is the definition of "fake news." They're bloggers that always claim to have inside sources with the team when they clearly don't and they have zero credibility. They've been called out on the Miller claims as they have been with many things. The original writer of it has a personal beef with De'Angelo too and his political views. They've had a childish twitter war over the last couple of years. I should have realized this when it's almost impossible to just keep a teammate's first-goal puck.

Yeah, seems like the stuff with Miller was outright made up. But De'Angelo was otherwise a miserable bastard on the team and his crappy play wasn't helping things any either.
Meanwhile, a whole bunch of Devils have come down with COVID-19 and they have to postpone their upcoming games as they don't have enough people to even field a team. Woof.

Yeah, I think we're looking at waiting until around the 13th before we get another Devils game. Shame, too, the team's been a hell of a lot more fun to watch this year than the past couple shitshow seasons. Silver lining is that the Devils were waiting to get a number of key players back in the lineup, so a delay like this gets them closer to being fully healthy...but man, that's a very dim silver lining given how little we know about the potential long term problems associated with COVID. Don't like this one bit, and it's not like Lindy Ruff is a young man, either, so he's especially at risk. Hopefully they're all asymptomatic cases, hopefully the rest is just "abundance of caution" for contact tracing and whatnot, and things will be back to normal soon enough. Makes me wonder about the NHL's protocols or what the league and PA agreed on and whether there was more that could've been done for this season.

Penguins have revamped their front office after the abrupt departure of Jim Ruthersford. Brian Burke is taking over as President of Hockey Operations and Ron Hextall will be taking over as GM. No word yet on what this means for Interim GM/former Assistant GM Patrik Allvin

The NHL has totally embarrassed itself today with the game at Lake Tahoe, going into an extended delay because they forgot to take into account the giant flaming orb in the sky that has provided light and life since the dawn of man.

I didn’t get a chance to watch outside of a few minutes, was it glare issues, ice problems, or both? Honestly, the ice quality at most of these outdoor games is atrooooocious. Still remember going to Rangers/Devils at Yankee Stadium and anyone attacking on the home team end of the ice kept being able to hit the puck off the board, have it bounce back to a perfect shooting angle, and watch it stop dead like it was sitting on a tee for the first forward who could hit it for an easy goal.

The ice had multiple wide spots of just slush. Players and referees were literally tripping over from the ice being so bad.

The ice had multiple wide spots of just slush. Players and referees were literally tripping over from the ice being so bad. I got caught up on what happened and...holy shit, what a disaster. Couldn't take into account that a bright noon sun might cause some issues, and it all goes down in front of a national audience, leading to you bumping your other outdoor game off the network the next day because you have to delay it to nighttime. God, this league. Meanwhile, the Devils got to be in the national game and showcase why they're an exciting young team but still absolutely not ready for the main event yet: stellar five on five play, Hughes/Smith/Severson/etc. emerging as legitimate top players, but oh my GOD that penalty kill is a crime against humanity. They were a top 10 PK the past few years, but I guess trading Greene and Coleman away last year killed that part of their game dead. Gonna be rough to work on, too: no chance for practice since they're playing every other day and back-to-back on weekends for the foreseeable future. Just need more guys to knock the rust off after the COVID break and hope they get back on the horse, because good Lord the current PK percentage is about 58%...the all-time league worst percentage is something like 68%.

The NHL wishes like hell it had a do-over. Had they stated both games this weekend at 8pm, it would have been an overwhelming success

Some literal breaking news out of Montreal: Habs just fired coach Claude Julien & associate coach Kirk Muller this morning. Assistant coach Dominique Ducharme is taking over on interim basis.
Marc Bergevin uses another “get out of jail free” card while he gets to search for his next bi-lingual coach. Isn’t that standard practice in Montreal?

It’s not a law but that’s the way it is.

They have to go for a French coach, one day they won’t, but it’s gonna be a big f***ing deal if that coach can’t speak to the French media.
