Rangers have also been fined $250k. Bettman seems way more upset that they called him and the NHL front offices out than a repeat offender being a thug against them.

Bullshit.
I hate it whenever teams/players are fined a small fortune for criticizing officiating. It's stupid that referees have to be coddled like infants who want their bottle 100% of the time LITERALLY. And it's stupid that league heads always love to give them that bottle. Can't say nothing about those entitled zebras. Even those who are mistake-prone, inexperienced, ill-tempered, or just straight up vindictive in some cases. The actual athletes, the people who actually work hard every hour every day to make their team the best they can be, have to say absolutely nothing when a Foot Locker reject decided a game.
Once again, bullshit.

And to think all of this chaos could've been avoided if Parros did his job and actually suspended Wilson instead of slapping him on the wrist with a $5k fine.

With Montreal clinching a playoff spot, we're fixin' to have Toronto vs Montreal in the first round. As a Leafs fan, I'm excited about the match-up.
....and nervous at the same time. This season's been an excellent one for the Leafs, but now comes the true test. Whether they can manage to advance past the first round or not. If there's any year where the Leafs have a good chance of having a deep playoff run, this is it.

Ok, fellow lotto-team fans, how're we feeling about the draft?
New lotto rules this year mean that only the 1-2 spots are up for grabs; a trip to Tankathon's lotto simulator has me seeing the Devils as most likely to pick fifth, because the damned Kraken are slotted in the third spot right now.
It's kind of crazy this year to see which teams are stuck hoping for lotto balls; COVID really did a number on clubs in ways I don't think we've quantified yet, as the clubs that missed games ended up with little to no practice time, an even more condensed schedule, and likely multiple players with lingering effects of getting sick in a sport where your cardio and respiratory health is of the utmost importances. Makes me think the Devils weren't quite as bad as their records showed this year, but if they get to pick somewhere 1-5 this season then I'll take that as a nice silver lining.
Definite Devils goal this year: draft a top defenseman. They missed out on Drysdale and Sanderson by one friggin' spot last season because the bastard Rangers got the lotto win and dropped everyone else back, but walking away with one of Power, Clarke, or Hughes this season would make up for that. Funny enough: Brandt Clarke is the brother of Devils forward prospect Graham Clarke, and Luke Hughes is the brother of...well, duh.

Funny enough: Brandt Clarke is the brother of Devils forward prospect Graham Clarke, and Luke Hughes is the brother of...well, duh. Yeah, the rankings this year are all over the place. Players have huge ranges, seems like everyone in the top 12 can go anywhere from 2-12. They all seem to be on about the same tier so it seems this year teams will draft more on positional need than previous years. Best player available will be tougher to gauge. Powers will probably go first, but if it's Buffalo picking, do they take Powers with Dahlin already being their top LD? Buffalo will be interesting, wondering if they go with Beniers since Eichel is as good as gone. The top four players in the 2022 draft are all elite, elite centers. They're pretty much guaranteed one of them so will they go after Clarke so Dahlin has an elite partner? Also need help on left wing and Eklund could take a top spot too. I can't see them improving any time soon so I think they also have a decent shot at Connor Bedard in 2023. Rangers fan here. Picking 15th unless there's another lottery miracle. We need centers. Mason McTavish is very, very solid and I'd love to see him drop to us but I could easily see him going in the top 10. 200 foot player, can play in all situations, has size and hands. Doesn't have 1C upside but would be an awesome 2C. Exactly what the Rangers are looking for with their need to get tougher and grittier. If we get him, I think Strome would be as good as gone at the next trade deadline. I know the goal is the playoffs next year and Strome is solid, but McTavish would replace him sooner than later and Strome would get a decent return. I'm not sold on Zac Jones like everyone seems to be. He looked okay but you'd think he was the next Duncan Keith with the way some people talk about him. Larry Brooks was saying he was being showcased for a trade for a 1C. If that was the case and he's expendable, and Drury wants another LD, Carson Lambos would be a great pick. He would really fit with the direction of the team and I think has a higher upside than Jones. Devils seem set on LD with Smith, Mukhamadullin, and Bahl. Could definitely see them trying to target a RD and Clarke would be perfect for them, although again he could very likely go higher than 5th. Hughes has Holtz on the way, interested to see if they try to get him help on the left side. Eklund or Johnson would be fun to watch with those two. As a Rangers fan you'd think I would hate the Devils but I actually don't mind them. I want them both to have strong teams so the games are more fun to watch.

Wouldn't mind seeing Boston go back to these. It's a sweet look for them.

Colorado locks up the top seed overall & the Presidents' Trophy. Well deserved. IMO they've been the most fun team to watch since Chicago had their run. The scary part for the rest of the league is that Byram is just getting his feet wet, and Newhook and Barron are going to be absolute studs and were complete steals to get them where they did in the draft. They're going to be scary good for a long time.

Only good thing about not having your team in the playoffs is that your blood pressure remains stable during these OT games. The early to mid 2010’d Rangers took years off my life, I tell ya!

If you want to watch something really depressing, the Canucks & Flames still have to play games while the playoffs go on.

Well here is a bold and somewhat insane statement...
I've been an avid, obsessive hockey fan since 92. I've watched countless games.
I've always said that the best game I've ever seen was Game 1 of the Blues/Kings in 2013.
It was topped last night. Florida and Tampa Bay was the best game I've ever seen in my life. Holy shit, what a war.
Nonstop end to end action, unbelievable skill, great goals, great offensive and defensive plays, back and forth leads, massive and dirty hits, momentum swings, intensity through the roof, disallowed goals, guys blocking shots on open nets, winning goal with about a minute left. I could go on and on. Despite the score both goalies played extremely well.
It was a true throwback to when teams legit hated each other. It was like if you touched the puck you better get ready for someone that was going to try to run you over and murder you. The first period alone was the best period of hockey I've ever seen. The announcers were laughing at the end of the period saying there was no way they'd be able to keep up the pace. They did. It had everything you could want in a game.
I'm still blown away. If I met someone that never saw hockey I would show them this game and I would bet they would become instant fans. If anyone is interested, they have a 9 minute highlight video on nhl.com. even though it doesn't come close to doing it justice and they left a lot of stuff out. If you watch it on youtube, just reading through the first 30 comments or so, a lot of people loved the game.

Hurricanes are the #1 seed in the Central, but I got a feeling most of their games will be shoved onto CNBC as long as possible.

Between cap circumvention and the BS they're getting away with on the ice, it sure looks like the league is in the bag for Tampa

Tyson Barrie didn’t work out in Toronto, which I completely blame on Babcock, but god I have zero regrets getting rid of f***ing Kadri. Dude is so undisciplined, wouldn’t be surprised if he’s gone for the series or longer.
He’s been offered a virtual in person hearing, which means NHL can go 5 games or more. This is the 3rd f***ing time he’s gotten a multi game suspension in the playoffs. F***ing clown
