Yep, not gonna be a season at all. Not a chance the sides bend whatsoever.

If players really want they want to going have to hold out as long as it takes otherwise it is going look real bad if they cave and come out with minimal gain

If players really want they want to going have to hold out as long as it takes otherwise it is going look real bad if they cave and come out with minimal gain Yeah if the players end up caving then all of this would have been for nothing. That's why I'm sadly expecting the entire season to be wiped out. Even with a loss of revenue, the billionaires will be fine. Whether the players can last all season is the question. My guess is they'll end up with something slightly better than MLB's "final" offer, whether that happens in April, or July, or next November, is anyone's guess, but they are probably prepared to be out all season. All I know is, baseball is going to decline badly in this country. When I watch highlights on Sports Center, all I see is empty seats, and that was before an unnecessary lockout caused cancelled games. It takes 21 days to form a habit. Baseball fans, especially younger ones, are going to bounce and never look back the moment they find something else to occupy their time in April. Baseball was at least culturally relevant in the 90's. You had Married with Children do an episode on the strike. You had Ken Griffey Jr. on Fresh Prince. You had Seinfeld doing baseball themed shows. That level of cultural relevancy is gone, and this will only make it worse now and in future years.

It is a catch 22 tho The MLB elite, Trout, Cole, Scherzer etc will be fine. No way they don’t find ways to get some type of back pay for money they lose. However, the MLBPA fight is for the “little guy”. To get fair advantage for players to not be taken advantage of during arbitration and the rules. Are the players finding ways to support those guys on the fringe is my biggest question. You can preach hang tough until those guys who depend on those game checks start missing them and complaining. If the players are taking care of each other then things will be fine. If they aren’t then shit will crumble. It’s hard to preach to guys to lose game checks and then most likely they will be short changed for upcoming FA’s next season due to owners using excuse of this hold out and revenue decreasing to not pay players

I expect to lose at least the first month. The owners don't really care about April.
The owners won't care until the TV contracts start getting threatened.

I never understood why they squeezed in all those free agents and THEN go into a lockout.
Why not lockout first? Then re-negotiate and THEN sign the free agents and the real prices the owners want to play the players.
But as the old saying goes: "We don't pay to watch the owners or the general manager, we pay to watch the players".

It’s hard to preach to guys to lose game checks and then most likely they will be short changed for upcoming FA’s next season due to owners using excuse of this hold out and revenue decreasing to not pay players I think I read somewhere that the MLBPA has a fund that they will use to pay the players during the season. If they are prepared to pay that fund all season, then maybe they'll be fine, but at some point the players will want to get paid their normal salaries. Yeah, it's one thing for Scherzer to miss a few checks, he's got generational wealth and $40m aav when he starts playing again. Most of the league makes the minimum, which is still a good amount ($600k) even though it's less than the players want, but it's not multi millions. Those guys will want back the most.

Probably the same problem getting everyone on the same page as we do today.

Manfred knows he's f***ed now. If they can't reach a deal soon, this is only gonna get worse.
The owners better figure shit out and fast, history isn't gonna remember them kindly for f***ing up what felt like the first normal baseball season in like two years.

It’s not good for either party Owners for always trying to cheat their way out of paying players and you got some MLB players on Twitter talking about having to get a “real job” which is not going to help

I know Rob Manfred is just a spokesperson for the team owners in these negotiations, but man is he really bad at being a public face for baseball.
He was smiling and joking around at the press conference announcing the first two series of the season are cancelled. When you deliver that sort of news, you at least have to have a frowny face.

If a deal is reached tonight, there will be a 162 game season, with the initial cancelled games being retroactively rescheduled for the end of the season.
Here we go again, essentially, lol
