No Scherzer tomorrow, possible arm wear and tear. Yikes. Still going to win. Maybe … If it gets to game 7, it’s over before it begins. Have no faith in the Braves to be good, even with all LA’s injuries.

if the Dodgers make it to the world series, I want Mark Prior to just glare at Dusty the entire series, here and there pointing to his arm and yelling "THANKS FOR THIS!"

I gotta hand it to the Astros. Sure they may be cheating assholes, but they are still an amazing baseball team.

It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.
A. Bartlett Giamatti, Former Commissioner of Baseball.

I want Seager but NY likes to do stupid shit and they going to be like why not let's add another RHB to a heavy right handed team If I had to rank it they want Seager, Correa, Story in that order I think STL might go another route and give Semien money tho with the down year Story had, they could probably get him cheaper

They don’t want him opting out eventually.

I think he goes back to an average to slightly above average bat when not in Toronto's line-up/parks, but with the price tag his year warranted. But the Cards FO is cheaper than they should be, so if he comes cheaper than Seager and Correa, and he will, that it'll be the deciding factor.

What a pathetic last three games. Paper contenders. Given Boston was not supposed to be in this position at all, I am not that angry. Astros had the better team and unfortunately the Sox pitching and bats fell flat at the worst possible time. Once that strike three wasn’t called in Game 4, it was all Astros after that. Turning point in the ALCS for both teams. Boston is going to have to address their pitching issues in the off-season if they want to win a pennant or World Series again.

In Japan the game (assuming average play time) finishes right as I’ll be going to a big Onita death match explosion show. My friend either gets to deal with me happy about surviving or scotching it up at an inappropriate time in full doomer mode. That’s baseball

Now that I've had some time to unwind I'm just looking back at what a roller-coaster season this was. They started off getting swept by Baltimore and some were writing off the season then. Then they went on a 9 game winning streak that pushed them to the top of the division. There were several come from behind wins and they were suddenly one of the top teams in baseball. Then came the trading deadline when they did little beyond trading for Schwarber. The Sox suddenly collapsed and your could hear the narratives of this being 1978 all over again. One talking head even waved around the nails he was going to put in the Sox's coffin, in August. Then in September on top of everything else there was a Covid outbreak. Every day someone else was out. It decimated the roster. At one point I think the Sox had the guy selling the nachos playing Second Base. It came down to the last game of the season but they made it in. Then they beat the MFY. And honestly, at that point I was elated. They could have stopped there and I would have been happy. But then the Sox of the 1st half returned for the ALDS and Fenway saw back to back epic walkoffs to beat the Rays. And games 2 and 3 against Houston were a blast. Unfortunately the bats went cold and the magic ran out. Still it was a great season and hopefully the start of something bigger. I really like the job Chaim Bloom is doing. He's improved the farm system and seem to have a knack for finding talent. The question is are they going to continue building up the farm or are they going to spend big in free agency? How the new CBA works out will factor into that. So now it's 4 long months until Spring Training (with hopefully no work stoppage). Normally I'd have the Patriots to help get me through the winter but now...sigh, it's going to be a long one. ![:'(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cry.png)
