I find the outcry about the comedy to be much ado about nothing. Jericho’s 50, having an incredibly solid run, and elevating younger talent. Even if it doesn’t make him the GOAT it does make him pretty great.

Yeah, but that guy also said Jericho and MJF couldn't sing. And by the evidence of this video, he's wrong. He's dead wrong. Imagine saying MJF cant sing. he is the main example of someone that just creates their own reality where what he thinks makes sense. That guy also must hate Sinatra and the Rat Pack, since he hated this number. Because I got Sinatra vibes when watching this. And it just made me all tingly inside.

Idk why people throw a fit about comedy when we had Austin and Rock doing some of their best work ever doing funny shit as heels, from Austin's work with Angle and Rock's concerts and Hurricane's mini feud.

QT Marshall puts the show together? Yeah, I remember hearing about this before. Makes sense, he apparently has a good mind for the business.

I said, ‘maybe we should use that package somewhere else and in the future. Let’s not use the word join for Will and Taz.’ Let’s say ‘Are you going to come with us? Are you going to work with us? Are you going to be part of our team?’ Will MJF join The Inner Circle was the tagline for our PPV match, therefore any other joinings should be suspended for this duration." I don't know about anyone else but this comes across as very self-centered? is that the right word? idk it just feels like "I'm doing this so no one else can do it while i am" kind of thing That’s how you make things special. If everyone gets to do the same things they aren’t special. what's so special about joining a group that happens all the time? hell the Dark Order's whole thing is recruiting people to 'JOIN them" maybe Jericho's the one who should have used a different term because Dark order have been telling people to join them since the beginning

One of The Rock's most memorable promos ever began with a near 10 minute anecdote where he accused Johnathan Coachman of sticking his interviewing microphone up a cows ass when he was drunk on a farm, but we can't have any of that pesky outragious comedy for top stars...

Some of Jericho's social media and recent decisions may have shown him to be an ass, but he'd be the first name down on my roster list if I was putting together a wrestling company. He really does get it and his ego is more tied into being the most entertaining than being the top guy.
I also love that AEW are willing to accept their mistakes. Can you imagine a WWE guy saying they've made mistakes? They just double down and blame everyone else.

Even if it doesn’t make him the GOAT it does make him pretty great. Are there people saying doing comedy hurts a wrestler from being the GOAT? Unless it's Lou Thesz, every single GOAT I can think of has done comedy. Flair, Austin, Rock, Hogan, Randy Savage, Terry Funk, Mick Foley? Everyone of them did comedy at some point. Jericho is one of the funniest guys in wrestling history, and part of why he is in the GOAT convo.

Nothing against Will Hobbs but he doesn’t matter his story can wait and if it did it woulda been better.Hobbs had like a handful of dynamite appearances so him turning heel isn’t that impactful.Firmly establish a guy before you turn him. The wrestling business has been built on top guys getting special treatment thats why people want to be top guys.If you want something to matter don’t let everyone do it.The Jericho/MJF angle has been going on since the early days of dynamite and was a central focus of the tv & the ppv so their angle should take precedence over less important angles.AEW is supposed to be this creative wonderland they should be able to come up with something different for the Will Hobbs of the world.

I disagree, honestly. Hobbs' situation was radically different from MJF's, both conceptually and in execution. I never even considered the situations to be remotely comparable. I like that attention is being paid to detail, but let’s not go crazy here.

Even before WWE he was paling around with RALPHUS on WCW.

Austin made Vince pee his pants on live TV. Cena's white rapper gimmick was a comedy gold mine. Angle always had a goofy side to him. It's not for everyone but it has a long history in the business.

Jericho's angle was fine, Hobbs' angle was fine. What was slightly weird was having two instances of "guy comes out with a chair but he's not on the side you think he's on" on the same show (Penta and Hobbs) although that could be intentional. If it happens once, it kinda makes you discount it later.

I think Jericho is being pedantic about this, and I don't agree with his take on the similarities between MJF joining the Inner Circle vs. Will Hobbs being courted by Taz. But then, it says something about the backstage environment there where talent can feel free to disagree with the way things are going without feeling like their job is in jeopardy for doing so.

Even if it doesn’t make him the GOAT it does make him pretty great. Plus, excluding most of his 2008-2010 run, comedy has ALWAYS been a huge part of his character.
