This is one of the most pleasantly available series of the 1980s/1990s. I’m not sure if the whole series is free officially and legally on YouTube, but they sure have a bunch of episodes there. Samsung Plus also has a whole channel essentially dedicated to it.
It’s been years since I’ve watched it regularly but have been watching some episodes lately. Murderers/serious crime committers evading justice have typically been my favorite segments since I was little. Especially when the opening seems like a Norman Rockwell painting so you know something is going to go down to blow that shit up.
I was more interested in the aliens/UFO segments when I was little. Now they are some of my lesser liked stuff. The worst are segments that literally would be too easy to solve to air today. Like one segment I watched was about this guy who lost contact with his match from Big Brothers, Big Sisters for about 20 years. Of course as soon as it aired the big brother got in touch with him. Today it would be solved in about 10 minutes on Facebook. Oh well at the time they offered easy mysteries to solve because you know some of those other ones never would be. Plus they were heartwarming.
Robert Stack, a kickass theme, and a ton of stories. What are some of your favorite mysteries from the original series?

I still want to know what the deal was with the guy that got crammed in a nuclear reactor.

The main story I remember was of an arsonist who’d film his work and send anonymous videos to the police. It was unsolved for years, but I saw the same story - now solved - on a similar programme many years later.

Oh man they have a weird one on now it’s about a guy who scammed a nudist colony. Check out this image from it: ![](https://i.postimg.cc/gjSj11cC/007-B2-CD3-D47-A-4-BC3-A6-FE-EA016-E6110-E5.jpg) It’s actually a really horrible story in part involving child abuse. But it’s weird they go the Austin Powers route in having the nudity covered up in way too convenient ways. It only would’ve been more jarring if Robert Stack was naked in his host segments.

Vast majority of the solvable cases have been solved now.
One of the best shows ever. Truly the best in the early episodes where the non actors would participate in the recreations or they’d hire some random people who were just so bad it was hysterical

One that stuck out to me was the story of Bill and Dorothy Wacker. This video does a decent job of summarizing the case and features a few brief clips from the UM episode:
It feels like it had to be one or more of the family members. But it’s still a really creepy story.

Last I checked it’s all on Tubi, which is free, which it appears is where the YouTube versions come from.
I know a minor shitstorm happened before when people kicked up a fuss about Youtube taking them down, because, you know, some of these people still need answers and taking down a free to access video is kind of dick move when you’re apparently trying to help people.

I still want to know what the deal was with the guy that got crammed in a nuclear reactor. According to the web, the facility had previously had an accident where toxic smoke had been released into the atmosphere. The theory is that this guy knew about unsafe practices that had caused it and was threatening to blow the whistle, so one of the plant managers murdered him.

I know that's a theory but it was still never conclusively solved and even if that is what happened it's not like we know who did it.

The show used to give me nightmares. About a year ago, I searched an episode on YouTube, I thought “I’m a big boy now. I’m 36. I can watch.”
Had a nightmare that night.

Watching the episode on Mia Zapata now. Kind of surreal to hear Robert Stack say, “Alice in Chains”

That show used to scare the crap out of me as a kid, I think it was Robert Stack’s voice.

UPDATE!
The show as a whole was creepy, but when the Update popped up, it scared the frick out of me!
I don't really remember much of the stories/cases they covered. I was more interested in the supernatural/UFO/cryptid stories. One I vaguely remember was about a person that was deathly ill, they were laying in bed one night when a very small UFO flies in through the window and shines a light on the person. The person actually gets healed from this!

I wonder who did their in person interviews? A lot of time it looks like it was filmed in 1971 not the 90’s and some times the lighting is so shitty it makes people look monstrously ugly.

That one where the woman is chasing the alien ship and it turns out....the aliens are the USAF!

Was Ted Kaczynski also the Zodiac Killer?
Just watched the season 9 premiere episode and that’s the main case.
I don’t think so but others might think different.

He could not possibly have been the Zodiac Killer. He would have been too young and the timelines don't add up. When he was arrested they went through everything with a fine toothed comb. If he was Zodiac they would have found evidence. You have to also consider that their motives were completely different. Ted Kaczynski's motives were political. Zodiac (at least based on his letters to the press) was motivated entirely by misanthropic sadism. That segment is retrospectively a deeply infuriating sit lol.

I hate to sound like Yogi Berra but they won't prove a serial killer 'til they prove it. Investiagtors and the public won't know a serial killer's ID until it is absolutely fact. Just looking at Robert Rackstraw makes you realize he HAS to be D.B. Cooper. No way airplane passengers can get a sketch looking just like the guy did in the 1970s. Also, to me it seems like the Unsolved theme is a WCW knock off version of the Halloween movie theme.
