It wasn't homophobic, it was making fun of brothers looking at each other's junk, it was joking about incest. Also Anthony Bowens is proudly out, so I don't know if him being homophobic was what Caster was going for.

I love these guys. I can see why people wouldn't be super into them on that one appearance but if given future chances, they'll knock it out of the park.

My headcanon is he's 2003 rapper Cena's secret son (don't ask how that lines up timeline wise). David Cena. God help us when we get Ashley Cena. I think you mean West Newberry Cena

I've never seen this guy before, but after that homophobic bullshit with a side of incest rapping I'm not going to go out of my way to see him again either. As of right now, same. It was beyond cringey. And I've never once thought of the Young Bucks' book cover as homoerotic. And this is coming from a gay dude. They just look like 2 guys standing solemnly. Weird how some people over-sexualize having a penis...like "oh no they're looking down and that's where their junk is!" is such a weird way to go. Maybe it's an obvious take to some, but it's out of left field for me.

Bowens is gay and they have Sonny Kiss and Nyla Rose on the roster, they aren't going for Homophobia, just that their cover looked stupid. Anyway it was a distraction so Hybrid 2 could jump them so it did its job.

Watch the DARK matches I linked in the thread, Caster's really good, and this rap isn't telling of stuff he normally does. It was just meant to mock the Bucks and how they looked on their cover, calling it homophobic is way too big an overreaction when it was just a simple distraction tactic for Hybrid 2 to jump them

I like what I've seen of Max Caster on Dark. The guy has good look, size and charisma. His rap on Dynamite wasn't his best work. But he's a good talent for sure.

Came from Jim Cornette and his co-host Brian Last saying that sfuff about the book cover. I've notice a lot of the heels get material from Cornette show. This rap was just another example of it.

This makes sense. I thought it was a reference to their BTE bit where Barnes and Noble stocked their book in the romance section, but that seems like a reference to Cornette too.

Yeah, I took it as a direct reference to that BTE segemtn myself.

The sad part is that he's already being pigeonholed as "Juan Cena" on the AEW Dark chat. Every single week. I like him and think he's got potential to really piss off some faces and possibly other heels with his schtick. No, there is only Juan Cena.

Story-justified or in-character homophobia is still homophobia. The joke of the rap was 'looks like you two are gay for each other, LOL'. The rap was homophobic, I don't think that is debatable. I see from the above posts that this may be a reference to Cornette, or to BTE, or that one of them actually is gay? All of that is exactly the problem, how was I meant to know that? Is every fan supposed to watch BTE to get the reference? And also, having other queers on the roster is not an excuse. WWE has Shayna on their roster among others and we know that doesn't mean shit. There are ways to have faith in your audience and then there are ways to drop the ball on the clarity of this kind of thing, and if AEW was trying to demonstrate that homophobia is a heel characteristic, I don’t necessarily have an issue with that but it opens a whole can of words.

Having seen BTE this week...can’t really buy it’s a BTE reference, sorry. That just feels more like weird justification when the joke had a different context to it. Especially when that context wasn’t even brought up.
EDIT: Also, I’m saying this as a straight person, please don’t say it’s not homophobic when there might be people who aren’t straight saying they think it is. That’s just weird.

As a gay person, I think it really does look like the cover of a self published romance novel and I'm not sure it's homophobic to point it out... Depending on how it's done, of course. Like this, done on the cheap in photoshop by someone's nephew. It's kind of odd as the graphic design work those in the orbit of the Bucks have had done is usually pretty good.

In the end I really just think it was mocking the book cover due to the book cut making it look like they got no pants and then them passionately looking down. The reference as a whole seems to be them just leaning into a joke Cornette made about the cover too, but again I've seen it by others, even my friend. Really the entire point of the segment was Caster and Bowens being immature and heelish, so Hybrid 2 could jump them in the distraction, it's a shame if people got homophobia out of it, because I honestly don't think that was even close to the intention. And the LAST thing I want is it to ruin Max Caster for people, because the kid has something real special if you watch his DARK freestyles. If there were crowds they'd be eating out og his hand.

Yeah BTE probably did that after Cornette and Last comments. Because they talked about it before the book was out.

I gotta say, I think the insults were about incest, not homophobia. If this were aimed at Best Friends or FTR, yeah, no question it's homophobia.
But the fact that it is even questionable whether or not it was means Caster shouldn't have done it.

I thought it was f***ing terrible. And homophobia is the first thing that came to my head too. When I heard the line, my response was basically "Ugh really? That's just f***ing lame"
And then people are saying this a reference to Cornette? You know what? That's also f***ing lame. Don't even bother referencing that sexist, racist piece of shit. It's what he wants, he thrives of that. Don't feed the troll.
