Because if their numbers are bad and advertisers don't want to be involved with them AEW get cancelled. You can ask Paul Dini about why Young Justice got cancelled for an example, basically. That show did really well on Cartoon Network at the time. The problem? More young girls were watching than young boys. CN did not want that because they a) they were aiming the show for boys and b) girls were seen as unlikely to buy the toys so Young Justice got the axe. All of that is nonsense and there’s been a shift slightly in the industry since then but hey, that’s why there was a campaign for years to bring it back. Demos to Networks are the difference between renewals and perfect time slots to cancellation. Same thing happened to Tower Prep.

That quarter number jump from the tag match to Sting’s debut is something else.
Also really good numbers for the main event.

Relatively stable numbers for the night. Might have some staying power for next week then since most people didn't just tune in for the final match (although it definitely gave a decent bump for the show).

I don't know if this has been mentioned in any other thread but Tony said there was something planned for both Christmas and the New Year show.

So it is. I stand corrected. ETA: It looks like ShowBuzz is running a day or so behind, probably still residual effects of the holiday. We should have the full cable top 50 later today.

New Years Dynamite is always going to be treated as one of the FLagship shows on the calendar due to it being when AEW was announced to the world.

New Years Dynamite is always going to be treated as one of the FLagship shows on the calendar due to it being when AEW was announced to the world. It also went up against a "Best Of" show from NXT last year which helped. Unclear if they'll be doing that again this year.

I wonder when the last time that happened? Maybe the first couple of shows.

Considering the competition, that’s pretty nuts actually. Good for them.

Imagine feeling bad for WWE having their noses rubbed into a ratings victory for the first time since 1996.

They only lost in the 50+demo, last week they did .29 and this week they did .26.

AEW is the #2 show on Cable, NXT is #40. This is no longer close. NXT can still use some WCW IP to pop a rating (ironic since WWE spent decades telling it's Universe how bad everything WCW did), but AEW is a legitimate hit show and NXT is nothing more then a way to keep AEW from being even more of a hit.
People need to stop questioning AEW choices, talking about how they would grow the audience, or get casuals involved, because what AEW is doing is working. The only difference between WWE and AEW is a bunch of old people who watch every week waiting for the Attitude era to come back. I mean, AEW got a .56 Male 18-49, and NXT got a .19. On Monday Raw got a .57 and a .58 in that demo at 9pm and 10pm. AEW is about as popular with an important demo as the decades long monopoly on Mondays. The industry is taking notice.

I think the 50+ crowd is not really people that grew up on the Attitude Era. That would be more those in 30-40 age group. Dynamite definitely getting closer in the 18-49 after this past show but still a little behind Raw this week and a lot behind Raw in prior weeks. We’ll see if their huge demo jump was a one week thing or if they’ll retain it now. Week of Nov 23rd Raw 18-49 = .57 18-34 = .29 Dynamite 18-49 = .26 18-34 = .15 Week of Nov 30th Raw 18-49 = .53 18-34 = .28 Dynamite 18-49 = .42 18-34 = .26
