Ciampa vs Thatcher in a Fight Pit is quite literally NXT going "Ok at this point if Thatcher tanks in the ratings we don't know anymore".

Is there a Rumble Takeover this year or is this show pretty much taking its place?

Is there a Rumble Takeover this year or is this show pretty much taking its place? I think it’s too early to say 100% one way or the other, but my hunch would be no, there won’t be a Rumble weekend Takeover.

I would say the only exceptions at this point are the Wrestlemania and Summerslam Takeovers. Because usually those are the final farewells of some talent, before they get banished to the shadow realm main roster.

Is there a Rumble Takeover this year or is this show pretty much taking its place? I think it's taking it's place. The past year we've been having regular Takeovers on the WWE Network every 2 months or so and mini-Takeovers NXT episodes in between them(i.e. Great American Bash in between IYH and Takeover XXX; NXT Super Tuesday in between Takeover XXX and Takeover 31; Halloween Havoc in between Takeover 31 and War Games; New Years Evil in between War Games and Takeover 33, etc.)

Add to this card an NXT Cruiserweight Championship match between Santos Escobar and a guest challenger from RAW, Gran Metalik. Also, the return of Xia Li and Boa after their triad torture training, and probably the first in-arena appearance of the mysterious higher power of the triad.

This show to start-to-finish loaded. Surprised it isn’t a two week event.

Oh by the way, my hunch was COMPLETELY f***in’ off. Only one of those people are even ON the card.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CJefc8PnDwT I want KOR to win so badly. On the other hand, I don’t want KOR to just get squashed by the Cheeselord shortly thereafter. I think the moment of him winning would be worth the following disappointment.

Kross isn't a guy who is gonna squash a guy on Kyles level so there is no worrie about that.
He may be resilient to the point where Kyle just can't put him away but he isn't gonna go all The Fiend on him.

Wasn’t Kross’ win over Ciampa a glorified squash, or did I just make that up after the fact? That’s what I’m talking about. Quick hope spot, boom doomsday, sleeper done.

Ciampa did get his own shots in on Kross even though yes it was already obvious that the match was going to be a one sided dominant performance going in. But also you can attribute why that match played out like that was in story that Ciampa was at his lowest point...he lost to Johnny and Kross had battered and agrivated his neck injury so Kross easily took out a Ciampa who was nowhere near in any shape to face him. So it wasn't like he squashed the Ciampa that is about to head into the fight pit.

I watched the original New Years Evil from 1/3/00 to see what motivated Triple H to give this show its namesake....I’m baffled and wouldn’t have pegged HHH as a big Russo 2000 WCW fan.I’m sad we aren’t getting a lethal lottery tag title tournament, a powerbomb match for the world title or Rob Garner.

I dunno, I mean the Dusty Classic always seems to end up like a Lethal Lottery with how often non-regular teams win the thing.
