He made the most of the Zeus role and got more mileage out of it than he should have. Whenever I’d see him in a film it always made me smile. Sad news, and only 62? Rest in peace, sir.

Heel side of SummerSlam '89? All gone :-( I was just looking at the card for that event. And at least 1 member of every single match is gone now.

In fact, 1991 is now the first SummerSlam that has a match where all the participants are still alive (Koko vs. Kato dark match). Everyone, including the managers, in the Rockers/Tito vs Rougeaus/Martel match are still alive (1990 also has Warlord vs Tito, and 1991 has Virgil vs Dibiase and IRS vs Valentine).

Huh, for some reason I had Joey Marella as the ref for the six-man, but it's definitely a Hebner in the natch. Pretty sure I read the ref for Tito-Warlord passed a few years back. Didn't count the 1991 matches since they take place after the dark match (also Sherri is part of the Virgil-Dibiase match).

He and Chris Tucker had so many great little bits of physical comedy in Friday. They were almost like an old-timey vaudeville act.

An absolute bummer to hear, especially the events around it. This pandemic, man.
Let me note a random role that others haven't so far. One of the first roles I saw him in was an episode of Matlock. In that episode, the lawyer is forced to defend an inmate from other inmates and convict Tiny is assigned as his bodyguard to enforce interviews and requests for items. At the end, Matlock says he could use a guy like Tiny whenever he gets out. When he asks why Tiny is in prison, the big man reveals he beat up his old boss for not paying him enough and the cheap lawyer skitters away for the freeze frame ending. Lister had some good comedic timing.
There is also the story that Paul Scheer tells from a show he worked on that had Lister for an episode. The big man arrived, said "I want [Some Fast Food Company]." and they immediately sent people out to get it. Perhaps it's funnier when told by a professional comedian.

Why did I think Martel was dead?
