Sometimes, a show, movie, book, etc. has a twist that has become so well-known that people forget it was supposed to be a twist.

The Empire Strikes back has two of these. Now if you watch the Star Wars Movies in the intended order the twists no longer exist. The first twist was that the goofy little green asshole on Dagobah was the Great Jedi Master Yoda. Second twist is the obvious one, "No, I am your father."
