Figured I'd give this its own thread. Releases Jan. 11 according to Nintendo.com: www.nintendo.com/games/detail/wrestling-empire-switch/Some of the new features: -Built in Unity engine for a more stable performance (which is probably the 1st time anyone ever said that about Unity) -350 roster -Touch screen, joy-con, & pro controller supported (can do 3-player matches with just the base Switch) -Return of blood & explosions (but seemingly no signs of dismemberment) -Open world city coming in later update -Expanded character creation options/layering -Chain moves together for non-canned double team moves -New contract options in career like negotiating allies jumping ship with you & longer feuds. -Dual wielding weapons/belts -Podcasts Frankly, I've been starved for a true proper new portable wrestling game that takes me back to the days of FPW on GBA & the PSP SVR games. 2K18 was a dumbster fire, Battlegrounds is meh-ish, Spike apparently has no interest in ever porting FPWW, & Retromania has too small a roster with no CAW to sustain me long term (still buying it). There's a lot riding on WE to finally deliver a decent wrestling experience. EDIT: new trailer EDIT 2: Instruction Manual: www.mdickie.com/guides/wempire.pdf

I used to play his games way back when. They were kinda hard to control, set up and get used to, but once you figured it out they were fun. I'd probably try and play this one if it was available for PC. Does anyone know if there is a new one out for PC?
I also distinctly remember haters just absolutely shitting on him, but if I'm not mistaken he developed these games 100% by himself. I think that deserves a world of credit.

The move melding in the above video is a programing feat. That a single man pulled that off when huge AAA studios can't is crazy.

I give the guy credit for working so much on titles that he’s got his game on one of the biggest platforms in the world without a major or even minor publisher backing him. All the credit in the world for that since that’s a rare thing these days.

There was a wrestlecrap version/mod way back when this forum was there which got a lot of play with me. The dismemberment was hilarious at the time in a ridiculously over the top way.

I loved this series. So many Dunya tee eff moments occurred in those games, which i could fill a thread by myself with.

MDickie used to be a very controversial and strange figure. Absolutely ahead of his time in some respects, given he was building games from the ground up in the mid '00s well before the indie boom took off, but it being a hobbyist scene meant a lot of his worst habits stuck out, and the guy was a pretentious and insufferable weirdo, so his games being strange and janky stood out as both an oddity and a target. I think the current indie game reality makes things a lot kinder on him, and he's to my knowledge nowhere near as vocally a git nowadays, so it's easier to recognize the scope of what he's pulling off and how much that takes.

His game is great, and I assume a Switch is powerful enough to deal with some of the ideas in his games which a laptop can't? (ie 30 man battle royals and so on...)

Somehow I made it into the game despite only being a lurker at the time... that was back in the long long ago of Ezboards.

Not so much that as it is the whole thing has been rebuilt in the Unity Engine which Switch supports. And Nintendo let's pretty much anyone publish on their eshop. There'll also be a mobile version and possibly other consoles over time.

MDickie always makes me want to rewatch Empty Arena shows from Hogan vs Flair, with stuff like Meat Stasiak and Rookie Orton coming out to the ring and one throwing dynamite at the other's back, despite them being a tag team. Just hilarious AI.

This is by far the most interesting announcement. Was kinda disappointed seeing Pokemon's gameplay and even the Mario seemed like a mess though creative.
