Just to piggy back off the Black Sabbath thread from this week basically what are your top 5 Maiden tracks?
Man this again was tough but mine are:
1. Seventh Son of A Seventh Son 2. To Tame A Land 3. Paschendale 4. The Number of The Beast 5. Flight of Icarus

While I enjoy the entirety of their catalogue, my favorites definitely come from their later years, when they decided every song should be an epic.
Paschendale Face In The Sand The Nomad Brighter Than A Thousand Suns 2 AM
The last choice was tough, but I first came into Maiden with the X Factor album, and I believe the Blaze era is very unfairly maligned. Songs came out of that time that we will never hear again from Iron Maiden. Granted, for good and ill.

Top 5
Fear of the Dark (Live) Dream of Mirrors Judas Be My Guide Caught Somewhere in Time Starblind
Honorable Mentions
Lightning Strikes Twice Wasted Years Flash of the Blade Run Silent Run Deep Ghost of the Navigator
Even with a top 10 it was hard to pick, and it's kind of amazing how different everyone's lists are so far.

In no particular order:
The Trooper Brighter Than A Thousand Suns Run to the Hills Powerslave Remember Tomorrow
4 Bruce Dickinson songs and one Paul Di’Anno song. Blaze wasn’t bad, but pretty underwhelming compared to the others.

Hallowed Be Thy Name Phantom of the Opera (either live with Dickinson or in studio with Paul) Wicker Man Powerslave The Red and the Black

I'll be the dissenting view here, but i'd accept almost any of the songs mentioned above as long as #1 is :Die with your boots on" Thats a F'n anthem

The crazy thing with Maiden is that the band obviously went through different stages throughout the years, not just in the singer swaps but more in style. From the more punk style of the first couple of albums to the more recent grand attempts at making every other song in their albums these massive 10+ minute epics, and yet they’ve always seened to excel in all of them. There’s a dud or two- Empire of the Clouds just drags way too much- but just about everything else is either quality in-studio or Bruce can just add an entirely new dimension to it live to make it work. An honorable mention that won’t make anybody’s list is Sheriff of Huddersfield, a bonus joke song making fun of their manager. youtu.be/NPbDYcMNX6A

My personal favorite Maiden track of all-time is Where Eagles Dare from Piece of Mind. Hallowed Be Thy Name and Fear of the Dark are certifiable metal classics. 2 Minutes To Midnight, Wasted Years, Holy Smoke, The Wicker Man, The Clansman (Rock in Rio recording), The Evil That Men Do, and I'm well aware I'm well over 5 but I'm terrible at narrowing down lists.

Now that is a hard question to answer on a drizzly and dreary Monday afternoon. Time to hit up the maiden albums and find that top 5, nice There’s just SO MANY songs at this point it was really hard to get down to 5. I was annoyed I had to leave The Wicker Man & The Trooper off in particular. And Wasted Years!
