The 1995 crime classic Heat was released on this day 25 years ago. A movie that has been influenced in many forms of media since and contains one of the best shootouts ever.

Both guys were also in a movie called "Righteous Kill" which I found amazing where they play aging cops. I personally am more of a Pacino fan than DeNiro. Both guys are amazing but Pacino has stuck to more serious roles his entire career, from what I've seen while DeNiro mixes it up with more comedy now. He's still great but the illusion of him as the action and drama star is gone. I don't like comedies in general but especially newer comedies though I think he accepts better movies to do so the ones he's involved with probably do a bit better. Most of Pacino movies I've seen I think are direct to DVD but they are great.

He had a very prominent role in that horrible Adam Sandler flick about twin brother and sister.

Heat is a goddamn masterpiece. Just an unnecessarily good film, and a cast so strong I'm amazed they show up in one movie.

That was wretched, but Sandler and DeNiro have great enough resumes (in different ways, obviously, but still) to cancel that misfire out. I swear that had one funny line: “We ate, and ran around in the woods, that’s not good enough?”
