Rey losing his mask in WCW was unsanctioned according to traditional Lucha Libre rules, so it not only would've hurt his marketability as a star in WWE, but also would've been a big taboo in Mexico. There's no way he would've been maskless in WWE.

Depends on if he was still wearing those stupid glue-on horns or not. I actually love the horns and I still marvel at how they managed to stay on!

Rey Mysterio was one of the only guys I was interested in in late WCW and I stopped caring the minute he lost his mask. To this day I don't understand why WWE doesn't let more luchadors keep their masks. Guys with masks stand out, guys with generic trunks or tights... don't.

They made a lot of money on Rey's mask, but they also kept him as the only masked luchador for a very long time. They tried Alberto without the mask, and that was...Alberto. They tried Sin Cara, Kallisto, Gran Metallik, and Lince Dorado with masks, without the same success...so I think they're on a phase of "no more" in the hopes that it protects Rey's marketability again. Just kind of that thing where Vince manages to learn the wrong lesson from everything, all of the time.

He'd be over and pushed, but the mask helped him tremendously.
His name's f***ing "King Mystery", it doesn't make as much sense without a mask.

Rey turns up for for his first day at work unmasked, Vince gives him a pat on the head and an autograph while he's waiting for this Mr Rio guy to show up.

He only would have gone as far as Ricochet post-NXT at best.

Also, masks are another piece of merchandise you can sell to fans. Taking masks off of luchadores and turning them into generic wrestlers is simply a bad business decision.
