Why are the announcers and Tony Khan so outraged?
Kenny didn’t didn’t leave the company. He hasn’t signed with impact. He didn’t walk out of the company or win the title unsigned like Punk in 2011. If anything the impact people should angrier that they have this guy with a more important title taking up space and calling himself the best. What’s in it for Don? Kenny didn’t become an impact wrestler.
Yeah he cheated to win, but it’s not like he’s the first heel champion in AEW. Callis is calling it the biggest screw job since Montreal

I mean, Don was invited into the company as a favor to Omega to commentate on his matches because of their friendship and not only did they take advantage of that trust, Don’s using it to promote the company he runs off the back of his friend being champion of his own.
Like, Khan has every right to be pissed about that. It’d be like if Punk stole the title and actually went to ROH with it.

Yeah, this was an invite to offer more insight into Omega during a big title match and Omega and Mox agreed to a straight wrestling match. Not only does Omega cheat, he does it with Don's help and then they run off promoting Impact. Pretty much a breach of trust from a guy who technically doesn't work at AEW. Pretty cut and clear to me.

Callis's gain, aside from having Kenny wrestling Hard to Kill and such, is personal. They've worked in the real life aspect of how Kenny's uncle took Callis under his wing when he was a rookie and made some major moves for his sake, including retiring while still a major star and managing him instead, and Callis in turn helped out rookie Kenny a bit too (without knowing until years later who Kenny's uncle was because Kenny kept that on lock when he was starting). Callis gets attention to his company, gets the AEW champion working his PPV, and gets to help someone who in-story he's as close to as family.
And there's heel champions, but they haven't turned heel in the course of going for their title the same way. Jericho started out in AEW as a heel, him doing shit is expected. Kenny is an EVP in the company, someone who Tony Khan has every reason to angry about when he goes and pulls stunts like this. His heel turn has been treated less as "Oh Kenny's gone bad" and more "Kenny's off his rocker lately" up until that moment, when he violated the gentleman's agreement he himself offered. Dude finally made his first all-out heel move to cheat his way to the title and take the shortcut he insisted he was never taking, then ran off into a car and made his first ever appearance on somebody else's TV despite being someone who has a major hand in running AEW.

I am pretty sure this is the first time someone won a title in AEW with nefarious means. I know it's common in wrestling but within this realm, it's never happened.

On top of everything that’s been said, he’s Elite! He’s an evp or whatever. This ain’t MJF or Kingston pulling this foolery, this is one the freakin board members.

Yeah, Khan seems very hell-bent on keeping as clean of finishes as possible. I worry about how hard that makes it to keep heat on heels, but so far it's had no negative impact. Besides that, if you keep the dastardly heel cheats to win a title at a minimum, it actually serves to create more outrage in the audience. In a weird way, the booking of AEW is actually basic and by-the-book despite being the new kid on the block. It's definitely not a bad thing, just an observation that sometimes a simple story that's told well beats mind-screwy nonsense.

It's definitely not a bad thing, just an observation that sometimes a simple story that's told well beats mind-screwy nonsense. Honestly, yeah. When ROH was getting hot as the big workrate promotion, it actually had better stories than WWE...by virtue of having simple stories where people acted sensibly for the most part and had clear motivations at all times. Very few wrestling angles actually have very many unique plot beats. The standard pattern of an angle is 1. establish a status quo, 2. foreshadow how that status quo can change, 3. change that status quo via a disruptive event, 4. build to a match based on the disruptive event. The vast majority of the time, that's all that's needed, and AEW has kept things relatively simple. Probably the most complex angle has been Jericho/MJF, and even then, the silly bits and complications didn't actually add much additional plot.

I'd love to know why everyone is so outraged yet no one confronted Kenny last Wednesday.

Another factor ia that yeah,MJF tries to cheat but everyone knows MJF is a no good bastard.
Kenny sold himself as the face if AEW,he is the EVP ,he says he is the best in the ring and wants no garbage in the match. He thens goes and aligns himself with Impact to win the AEW title

However, I couldn't see them being that outraged if Moxley had lost to MJF, who would have cheated WAY worse. It wasn't even that big a cheat.

Meh, if Mox hadn't broken the "gentlemen's agreement" first with that chair punching spot and especially throwing Kenny through the speaker I'd be more kayfabe upset by the match finish. Also, kayfabe Mox could have won at least twice beforehand which makes him look like a moron to me.

Didn’t Moxley sign a contract that meant his finisher was illegal during his title match with MJF and then used it when the referees back was turned?
Where was the outrage then?

That was a great finish honestly Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining about it on the level of “I hate that finish” As much as I love MJF, watching him get screwed out of the belt is hilarious I’m just saying that the reaction to Omega hitting Moxley with the mic once and it’s been treated as this heinous act when it’s not even the first time the belt has been won/retained via illegal means

This isn't Cody or Darby. Mox isn't exactly an honorable guy nor was he presented as such in this match.
