Over the years I've gradually pared down my wrestling DVD collection, reducing them down to what I consider to be essential. What about everyone else? If you do or do not have a collection, what are your "essential" DVDs or Blu Ray's, and why?
Mine are,
Here Comes The Pain - Love Brock Lesnar's original run, and is one of the first wrestling DVDs I ever bought
Road Warriors DVD - My favorite tag team, and a great set of matches and a documentary that spans multiple companies
Chris Benoit DVD - A rarity for all the wrong reasons, I'm not sure how many of the matches on here are still available
Bret Hart DVD - Amazing documentary and match selection
Kane DVD - Huge Kane fan, this was his only DVD up to that point. Although the match selection is rather odd. The tag team match at No Way Out that he and Taker lost is on there, but not the Wrestlemania X7 match the next month that Kane won?
Hulk Hogan Anthology/Hulk Still Rules/Unreleased Matches - big time Hulk Hogan fan
Jake The Snake Roberts DVD - A favorite from the golden era, with a good but depressing documentary
Ric Flair DVD - Released after his retirement, the documentary and matches doubles as a history of pro wrestling
Roddy Piper DVD - Another favorite from the golden era, and just a great feel good documentary
Randy Savage DVD - Yet another golden era must have
Undertaker Tombstone DVD - Great match selection from the first half of his career. If it had his match against Angle at No Mercy, it would be perfect

Wrestling Gold vol 1 thru 5-Great selection of footage. Plus as an extra audio track with Dave Meltzer and Jim Cornette doing commentary.
Wrestling Planet's Masters of the Ring-Filled with rare indie matches that are great. Plus a bunch of really great lucha matches.
Guerrero Del Ring vol 1 thru 3-Not many Lucha dvds released in the States. These 3 contain footage from the TJ based fed Konnan ran for years. So many great and early matches from Rey Jr,Psicosis and others.
Wrestling Society X-This set is just jam packed with fun.
WM 17-But only cause this was the first and so far only WM I have went to.

Both of my Stone Cold dvd's, both the one from 2008 and the one from(I think) 2011. The 2011 one has a good documentary, and both sets have lots of good matches. They're probably my most watched because Austin is my all time favorite. Also the 2011 one has a whole disc for his best promos. Including his glorious appearance on WWF Livewire.
Bret's DVD. The documentary and matches as you said are top notch. And Bret is another favorite of mine.
The Hell in a Cell DVD from 2008. Released before the HIAC became watered down, and has all the classics(no Bossman vs Taker or Kennel from Hell though rofl) Plus Mick Foley is the host and is really entertaining.
The Rock's DVD set from 2008. Lacking in a real documentary(just quick bits between matches) but the matches are all good, plus third disc has a bunch of his most entertaining mic stuff.
An Introduction to New Japan Pro Wrestling. A two disc set of great NJPW matches. Good to show to someone who you want to introduce to NJPW style wrestling.
Wrestle Kingdom 9- I got this one the same time as the aforementioned DVD. Great matches on there. It's my favorite era of NJPW, with Nakamura, AJ Styles, Okada vs Takahashi.

Basically I've only kept a few that would be impossible to find online on a streaming service and would probably be irreplaceable. I still have ROH Joe vs Punk, ROH Summer Of Punk, TNA Hardcore War 2006, and a 10 disc compilation of all the best Japanese and indie stuff of the 00's.

I think the Razor Ramon DVD needs to be seen not just by wrestling fans but it should be required viewing for any organization dealing with clients who face drug or alcohol abuse. This is a story of redemption that would be inspirational to an addict. As someone who previously worked with drug addicts and alcoholics I recommend the Scott Hall story any chance I get. As a long time fan of Scott Hall/Razor Ramon I am glad this DVD came out. I will support Scott Hall and his recovery as much as I can.

Wrestling Gold-A five disc set of classic wrestling. Features optional commentary by Jim Cornette (in non-raving mode) and Dave Meltzer.
The Rise and Fall of ECW-One of the best in a time when WWE were putting out banger documentaries.
Hardcore Homecoming-The counter-documentary to Rise and Fall.
Welcome to Luchaville-A small show in Connecticut. Pure batsh*t insanity and subject to my only review video.

The TNA Best of the X-Division DVDs were mind blowing as someone who grew up only watching WWE.

Have you seen the Jake Roberts documentary? If so, how does it compare?[/quote] I did not see the Jake DDP resurrection one but did see the WWE version. Obviously during the time of the WWE one Jake was still pretty bad off so it's somewhat different than the Razor one. I would like to see the DDP version as I truly believe Jake is a changed man but for some reason I keep overlooking getting it. I've bought very few wrestling merchandise in the past 10 years so it always slips my mind. Razor was my favorite since I was a kid and the DVD was available in the store so I grabbed it. I don't do a lot of online ordering anymore so that's another reason I didn't get the Jake one.

Booker is paying him millions of dollars a year. Just has to win and lose matches when told to. Then doesn't. Isn't that, kind of, ya know, unprofessional? I mean, yeah? I'm assuming you're talking about Austin. He's still my favorite wrestler.

Most of the DVDs I have are ofshows. I might have to look at which ones I may not want to hold on to, but at the same time, I am not sure if I want to let go of. Anyway, Wrestlemania X-Seven is one that I consider essential because that is one great show. Also, Bret Hart's DVD (his 2005 one) was probably the first wrestling DVD I ever actually bought and then I started collecting after that.
For collecting purposes, I would say a lot of 2007's PPVs because they had the bonus discs. I also have some ROH DVDs because they were my exposure to that promotion.
I will have to look at some of my DVDs to see if I may want to sell them.

I mean, yeah? I'm assuming you're talking about Austin. He's still my favorite wrestler. Actually, Bret Hart. But it's pretty bad when anyone who gets paid millions to win and lose fake matches "sometimes refuses to lose." It's funny, as I've grown older, the more I see how Vince's back was kind of against the wall regarding Bret and Montreal. Bret wanted to retain and then relinquish the title on Raw the next night, which would have done nothing for anyone. However, I still love Bret tho haha.

The Spectacular History of the AWA is my favorite. I can roll my eyes at some of the "WWE company line BS" being slung around, but I smile when I see Baron von Raschke, Mad Dog Vachon & Nick Bockwinkel. World Class may have been my first exposure to pro wrestling, but we're in AWA Country first and foremost. That's like rooting for your home team.

I also have to add Ric Flair & The Four Horseman DVD. It's a great DVD on the history of the Horseman.

I miss collecting DVDs and still have a big collection rendered largely useless by the network. Some still aren’t on there and some have the odd match yet to be uploaded. Always worth a watch:
- Self Destruction of Ultimate Warrior - Monday Night War (original dvd not the network doc series) - Old Austin docs like Hell Yeah, What? or Austin v McMahon. Interesting period pieces. That also goes for Taker’s This is My Yard or the old Jericho and Kurt Angle docs from the attitude era.
The short answer is anything not on the network.
