For what it’s worth, the original film was the second film that I saw that contained female full frontal nudity. Woman in Red was the first.

Proud to say that I never cared about these movies so I don't know what "tHAt sCeNe" is. Also, have a feeling this'll prolly never see the light of since it seems like a lot of the retro reboots that MacFarlane is involved in never happen anyway. Where's his Flintstones reboot?

If you want to see Revenge of the Nerds in real life, just go to silicon valley or hop into your Tesla. or watch The Big Bang Theory. I feel like a remake of Revenge of the Nerds in 2021 is going to BBT on the big screen.

A) makes sense as he works with one of the original cast members as it is.
B) not everything he does is exactly like Family Guy.
C) As for a "that scene," Seth is one who gets carte blanche to be as inappropriate as he wants, it seems. Soooooo...

Funny thing they tried to reboot this in 2006. But it was scrapped. From what I have heard they started filming then the college they were filming at changed their minds and didn't want the movie filmed there. IIRC Howard Stern was producing it. Love ROTN. Saw it in a theater. Then bought the VHS. Hell all 4 of the films are fun. Avoid the pilot for the ROTN Fox sitcom. Cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch plays Booger. Based on that, I NEED to see that pilot.

I said this before on Facebook. I just hope Seth leaves out THAT scene. There's no way that will pass muster today. You know what scene I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure even people who never saw the movie have heard about THAT scene. In the opening post, that scene is mentioned: "The upcoming version won’t be a remake of the 1984 comedy, which hasn’t aged all that well and has been criticized in recent years for depictions of rape. Instead, the contemporary reimagining will pontificate about today’s nerd culture and what even constitutes a geek in the 21st century." Honestly sounds like the beginning of 21 Jump Street where Tatum and Hill are walking into school, and Tatum is 'not cool.' But spread out to a 90 minute movie.

It might be interesting considering nerd culture is king now. At the time Revenge of the Nerds came out, Microsoft was only nine years old and Elon Musk was a pimple faced thirteen year old. Comic-con was a gathering to discuss the minutiae of comic characters instead of a place where studios hype up their billion dollar properties. Yeah, that's the thing too... 80's were teh time of the Jock Bully and the Nerdy underdog... it was like the story of the time... but... like all the nerdy shit of the time is kinda now main stream (or as close to main stream that anything gets) ... so... it's going to seem really f***ing weird. Especially the whole "the nerds are a repressed minority" narrative that the first leaned on hard.

How many reboots has MacFarlane been attached to at this point and has a single one of them ever actually happened? Funny thing they tried to reboot this in 2006. But it was scrapped. I remember. A few conventions I went to were giving away bags with the film's logo on it. Then a few months later, the film was shut down due to the school they were filming in backing out due to some scenes the school didn't agree with. And Fix unable to find another school to film on. About half the movie was already filmed. But that's footage that will never see the light of day.

Especially the whole "the nerds are a repressed minority" narrative that the first leaned on hard. That's the biggest problem I see with a reboot. The original narrative (rape scene aside) was very much a product of its time, with nerd culture being VERY niche and those people being outcasts because of it. So it set up the story perfectly. Since nerd culture became "cool" in the last 20 or so years, and those groups aren't repressed anymore, I mean...what do they even need revenge for? You basically end up with a movie that's a reboot in-name-only.

You see there's a mind game here. Seth sees himself as one of the nerds and that making a bad remake is his revenge. It's literally Revenge of the Nerds.
