NXT women's division when Rhea and Io are called up

I think it's going to take a decent sized hit if/when Io and Rhea are called up. 

Outside of Rhea and Io I don't think they have any elite all-around talents at the moment,

They have a lot of good wrestlers who will usually have good matches, and can have great ones with great opponents ( Candice, Dakota, Toni).

They have someone like Ember who is great with the physical and technical aspects of wrestling but who lacks character/charisma which makes it hard to get invested in her matches, and limits her ceiling as a performer .

They also have greener talents who have real potential and may be great someday but aren't there yet and still need to be carried to great/good performances (Raquel, and Shotzi, but Raquel is a bit further along than Shotzi is)  


Losing io will also mean NXT will not have a Joshi talent on the brand untill Sareee debuts ( if that is even still hapening). But even then Sareee doesn't have nearly the amount off exposure to western audiences, or hype around her signing they way Asuka, Kairi, and Io did . Eve someone like Hikaru Shida I'd say was more known by western audiences prior to her AEW signing due to her work for Shimmer and EVE, than Sareee is currently. I also think Sareee will take at least as long as Io did to adjust to NXT, and find a character that works for her, if not longer as she isn't the athletic freak Io is.
  
I also don't think they have a potential top face waiting in the wings who will be ready to go as soon as Io and Rhea leave. I ean all that is there currently s Shotzi and Ember . Shotzi's too green, and like I said earlier Ember doesn't have the charisma. 

So I think the quality will take a dip hen Io and Rhea lare called up. Not nearly as much as what happened after the 4HW and Asuka were called up but still enough to be noticeable.

I don't know when Io would be called up, but I don't see it happening for quite a long time.

Rhea, yeah, that's considerably more likely, but even that may wait until Charlotte returns.

I mean Io has been in NXT/WWE for about 2.5 years now, and once she loses the title she's not going to have much to do.

Yeah it'll take a hit, Io's a proven draw for NXT and Rhea's done good numbers in her time too. I don't think it's put them on the backburner but if both were to concievably go within the same time range of one another? They'd have some rebuilding to do, but they have the depth.

Going have to disagree with this take on a few levels

One, the division is so strong that you don’t need an “instant star”. Rhea and Io are without question the Crown Jewels but the division wouldn’t take some terrible hit without them either

Secondly, let’s not overlook the “star value” of a rising star in Shotzi. She isn’t a ring general like Io or touted prospect turned star like Io but everything from her image to personality has been marketed as a future star.

Third, the division can never be as f**ed as they were when they lost Asuka. It was Ember Moon and everyone else and Ember was gone 6 months later after she helped Shayna Bayzler along to at least be marketed as as dominate champ. Then came Kairi and the rest the women we have seen recently

Lastly, HHH is used to this by now. He’s on the clock the min a woman or man steps into a NXT ring unless they want to stay in NXT like Ciampa/Gargano. The division has as much depth as its has since the 4HW days and that got f***ed cause Vince took the whole damn division. Over the last two years they lost Bianca, Kairi, Shayna, Mia Yim, Shayna etc and have been able to replace them with others. Don’t count out Toni Storm either who has a star look and is only like 24 years old and she’s nowhere near main roster ready. They will be fine

Completely disagree. The women's roster in NXT is the best across all promotions and shows in North America. Losing Io and Rhea will elevate other rosters for certain, but the depth NXT has is unbelievable in comparison to any sort of rival.

If Io's debut on the main roster is being Asuka's tag partner, that is an incredibly bad omen for her future. Especially if Kairi's run was any indication.

As for what happens if they are called up, NXT is definitely going to take a massive hit, and I can see peoples interest falling off. Candice is really bland outside of the Gargano stuff. And last night showed that Shotzi and Indi have a long way to go before I could see them at the top of a division. And I don't see Toni catching on fire either.

NXT's got the best thighs in the business, Toni Storm! They got Dakota & Shotzi, Tegan & Candice. They'll be fine when Rhea walks away.

It's going to be amusing if it's Charlotte, since it'd just defeat the whole point of her having jumped to NXT, but I could see them doing that, potentially. Rhea's running out of anything to do in NXT, so she can just go up to the main roster whenever she's ready for their rematch, and it's not like Charlotte was moving the needle. She needed to jump because of how burned out she was on the main roster, but with how much the landscape has changed since then and how much time she's been gone, that's less of an issue now, especially since Becky's gone for the foreseeable future.

I very much doubt it'll be Io unless if it's a one-off or something. She's a load-bearing champion for their division and one of the more credible stars on NXT, period, men or women. I know that NXT is a write-off for WWE and USA, but they still need it to take a wet enough bite out of AEW to fulfill its purpose, and Io is important to that right now.

A big problem is that NXT women's division as of recently has been known for it's match quality and not it's storytelling. The match quality is going to take a bit of a hit if they don't have their two elite workers, and NXT's booking in recent years has not been good espcially when a division does not ave any standout talent see the current NXT tag division for example. 

I also think Shotzi is a ways away from being ready to be the star of a division, let alone take over for Io and Rhea. She can still be very sloppy at times, and is not able to carry lesser talents , nor can she base for moves well like Io and Rhea can. I think people give her a long leash because she has the anti-diva look the IWC really likes.

I'm more worried about Io and Rhea's individual careers being called up to the main roster than the NXT women's division when/if they're called up. NXT has a stupidly strong women's roster right now and they've got a lot of good talent to fill in the noticeable holes Io and Rhea would leave.

I think the women's division right now is pretty damn secure.

Now, the men's main event one, yeah, that's pretty much a skeleton crew right now and quite a lot of the options are pretty tired.

Don’t think Io is going anywhere anytime soon and Rhea is definitely not vital to the division’s success. They’ll be fine. They could always bring over some more of the NXT UK talent as well. Didn’t they sign some fairly big women’s division names in the last year or so too?

I think Io is very likely main roster bound sooner rather than later once she loses the title. I don't see her sticking around in the midcard, and Vince will probably want her on the main roster after she loses the title if she's moving the needle that much.

As for where she ends up, I have no idea. Assuming Sasha makes it through Wrestlemania as the champion, she'll need a credible challenger on Smackdown.

My guess with Rhea is they want Charlotte to come back and then Rhea is going to go up and feud with her to resume what they had at the last Mania.

Io is the only woman who no one ever questions the quality you are getting when she wrestles it is going to be banger of a match and we have said it in other threads she can wrestle any style and wrestle anyone and every single woman comes out of a match with her looking better.

You can call up any other woman and NXT will be fine....but Io should not even be in the conversation of being called up anytime soon because Io is the preverbial rising tide that lifts all boats.

I’m with you that Io’s really really good, but let’s not short change the rest of the division. Rhea is almost on her level, yes she’s that good. Ember (character work aside) is incredible in the ring still. Raquel is ascending. I continue to undersell Candice’s abilities despite her showing out every single time she wrestles. There’s so many good wrestlers down there that even a loss like Io isn’t going to hurt their momentum that badly. It’ll be a loss for sure, but not some crippling blow.
