I really hate his gimmick, which is probably why Vince loves it

400,000k PER YEAR is a 1.2 million dollar contract. For a midcard dude whose gimmick is "sexually aggressive stoner". That doesn't seem low at all. Given WWE's overall revenues and ability to pay its talent significantly better, it's very low.

Most of the folks on the roster are way underpaid in the grand scheme. Like, I might be making this up but I thought I saw a stat of what percentage of profit/revenue goes to WWE talent in comparison to say, the NFL or NBA, and it’s a staggering difference.

I don’t understand why Riddle didn’t ask for an extra twenty grand a year.

$400k is damn good money for wrestlers who really only have to pay to travel to Raw once a week, as opposed to a 4-5 day travel schedule, paying for cars, paying for hotels etc.

Idk why Dave or whoever wrote the quote like Truth isn’t one of the more constant presences on tv while taking virtually no bumps, lmao. Feel like a lot of folks would kill for that. Facts, imagine trying throw shade at someone because they are low on the card and a comedy act. Except the fact, that man gets paid to practically not take a ton of bumps a year You can pay Truth half of what he makes and he'd most likely still take it cause he's on TV every week to tell jokes, do a segment or two and doing all this as he approaches 50 In regards to Riddle, $400,000 just to say bro and tell weed jokes. He did that all his life for free, homie not going be mad. Plus, all he has to do to change Vince mind is rip someone head off in the back and he gets a serious gimmick

And to drive this point home even further, MMA fighters would kill for the type of money spread around WWE Dana pays them a pittance of what they should be actually getting. If Riddle was still fighting in UFC, he wouldn't see $400k total for maybe 3 years

OK is there any way we can put Vince entirely on some kind of like. 24/7 Championship / Matt Riddle funny bro segment show while other people can take over the main stuff? Because it feels like the only stuff he gets into is the like *his* brand of comedy which.........yeah. So distract him with Matt Riddle bronutts segments please?

If Riddle was still fighting in UFC, he wouldn't see $400k total for maybe 3 years Which honestly makes me happy for Riddle to get paid. When he left UFC, he talked about how poorly he was getting paid and Dana said he wasn't gonna get paid anywhere else. It's kind of funny. The way to make Riddle likable is to compare him to an even bigger jackass.

From the Observer: " The company is working on locking down Riddle, whose contract is up in August. It’s said he’s pretty much agreed to terms for a three-year deal at $400,000 per year guaranteed plus $50,000 for every show in Saudi Arabia. The story is that Vince doesn’t understand his bro gimmick but loves the vignettes he’s doing as he finds them hilarious. Unfortunately, that’s R-Truth territory as far as lower card comedy positioning." This is the only important part.

I haven't seen any of Riddle's segments on Raw, but if they're anything like everything else he's done in the past, the idea Vince can't wrap his head around really basic stoner comedy and puns on the word 'bro' is one of those things you don't realize is so damning until you remember a movie came out this year with the core premise that two of the biggest icons of that style of comedy are washed up old dudes now who have to go on one more adventure.

I have no frame of reference in terms of anything character-wise Riddle might have done before WWE, so all I have to compare it to is his NXT run, and what he’s doing now isn’t that different from what he was doing in the tag team runs with Dunne and Thatcher, for better or worse. That stuff was hit-and-miss back then, let alone now. The whole “How much fish could Bobby Fish fry” thing was just as awkward as anything Vince himself could come up with to me.

Riddle will probably earn more once they start running shows and selling merch at events.

Plus, all he has to do to change Vince mind is rip someone head off in the back and he gets a serious gimmick I think the issue is that being in that role could potentially place a limit on his monetary value to the company by limiting how high he's likely to rise on the card. So he'd be making the $400k a year, but might be losing his shots at being one of the guys who can push more towards $1 million. Still, if he gets to keep his bump card more empty and is satisfied with what he's getting them more power to him...but yeah, end of the day almost every Raw/SD/NXT wrestler in WWE is pretty hugely underpaid relative to company income.

400k a year to be a stoner.... Damn Yeah that's bad business by WWE. I mean, I could totally smoke way more weed than Riddle and I'd do it for free.
