We all have seen it, record low viewership....angry network executives......disgruntled fan base, and what appears to be an out of touch old man who has no idea what wrestling fans want in 2020. I am guilty of being one of those wrestling fans who have seem to lost interested in the last couple years, and I would say the past 6 months espically. I still love WWE and want to see it do well, and everyone is always bad mouthing everything about the company, myself included................but if Vince came to you and said, "i give u 6 months, you can do whatever you want- save us" What would you do? Keep in mind you have to be reasonable. You cant say something like, "give CM PUNK 50 MILLION to come back" things like that. You have to work with what you have now, and maybe add some reasonable options in the future....Here I go!
1. Who knows how long we wont have fans in arena's anymore, but the THUNDERDOME-- has to go. I would look to find a outdoor arena- maybe something like AEW has, and try to get as many fans in as possible where everyone is socially distanced and safe- until normal life returs
2. NEW EVERYTHING!---Raw needs a facelift! Red and Black has been the colors basically since 1993- CHANGE IT UP!...Maybe do like a Red/White Blue set up/logo. Maybe you swap the Red for Silver?... the red/black..red/white combo just feels so outdated!.......New LOGO!/New Graphics!/...new announcers! I'am ok with TOM PHILLIPS calling the action/ but Joe needs to be wrestling, if he is able to/ Saxton should be a backstage guy. How About Phillips/Wade Barrett. You DO NOT need 3 commentators! Or maybe go the old WCW route... have commentators for half the shows/ then 10-11 you bring in different commentators. It would make the show feel fresh!..New camera angles!, its pro wrestling so it doesn't have to be something ground breaking and crazy, but everyone is sick of Kevin Dunns style. Remove the stupid LED Posts!/ new ring ropes etc to match the new graphics..raw needs a FRESH FEELING.
3.Quit insulting fans intelligence. We all know R Truth really isn't as dumb as they portray him. John Morrison is more than a lacky who does stupid raps and caters to whatever the MIZ need's. Trying to pretend the announcers had/have no idea who wrestlers are! everyone knew who the retribution members were, yet they still play as if they didn't have identity's prior to RAW. Storylines and how the announcers react to the storylines are insulting the fan's intelligence. I could go on and on here. Treat the fans like REAL PEOPLE, not just tree's who will accept whatever story you give them!. Every single week, doesnt have to involve R truth being chased by jobbers and someone winning with a roll up- its the most unrealistic crap ever,
4. Establish "tiers"- to me this is a big one. As a kid, you knew if you saw a wrestler-where they stood in the company...For example. Mr. Perfect one of the greatest wrestlers/ most memorable ever (in my opinion) they had- if you saw him, would you picture him with the world title? or in a main event at WM? NO, You perfect him with the gorgeous IC belt, having a great match with another guy in his "tier". To me, that helps build up each belts prestige and establishes each characters fit into the company. Now can eventually people move up and move down? absolutely!, but you first have to get them established. Bobby Lashley is a current example of this. One think they have done GOOD job of, is FINALLY establishing him, as the US TITLE champion. When I think of Lashley, he fits in perfectly in that "tier"- U try to push him up to the world title, in the level witht he Ortons/Reigns/Rollin's....you know he's not there and you know the outcomes.
-build the tag team division! give each tag team vignettes/ promos! Let each team work their own style, not the "wwe style". It allows each team to establish themselves as individuals and grabs the attention more!
-Hire DIFFERENT types of wrestlers! I feel like this is one area, WWE has struggled at. Maybe I'am old school, but it seems like to many of today's guys are the 6ft 215lb guys who are in great shape, but doesn't look much different than your best friend who hits the gym. There is definitely a spot for those guys, but where the giants? wheres the ugly dudes? where's the characters? Maybe he cant put on a 5 star classic, but he has a character and it leaves an impression. CHARACTERS NEED TO COME BACK!
-There are so many things i could post here, but i believe RAW needs a complete cosmetic make over..colors/graphics/presentation/camera angles/Commentary/format....
2-believable characters- do not insult our intelligence
3. wrestlers need to have "tiers"
4. Build legit tag teams/different styles/body types/ give them vignettes/promos/characters! reason to care
5. Diverse the type of guys on the roster- we need giants! we need fat guys! we need ugly guys! we need crappy wrestlers with Great characters! we need the 6 foot 1 215lbs guys like today...we need MANAGERS to help get those over who may not have the verbal ability!
i could go on and on!
