John Cena returns but the network demands all his storylines are booked by Russo. Admit, you’d watch it. Cena as Prince Adam confirmed?

Edginess isn't going to fix a thing while the show continues to be written for and by a 70 year old billionaire.

Meltzer said this report is not true. I mean, I can buy that because they weren’t asking for a useless special this time.

Here's a random thought...
If the network is looking for more violence, how about cutting back on the story building and the in-ring talks and the backstage interviews, and try adding some more...
y'know...
wrestling?

Raw is suffering most of the foundational issues with WWE and, dare I suggest it, wrestling as a whole.
Promoters and wrestlers need to think a little more about who they're meant to be entertaining. The 18-49 male demographic might be (somewhat) lucrative and almost certainly low-hanging fruit for wrestling/sports entertainment, but they're peanuts compared to the Boomers who actually have all the money and the grandkids that the codgers might bring with them; and their tastes for pro wrestling are entirely different - a sport-based morality that clearly defines not only who the heroes and villains are, but also directs those characters' actions inside the ring as well as in their promos. At a time when nuance and subtlety is cheap as dirt, and the most politically-neutral way to measure ethical behaviour is in sport, ignoring a presentation model that is a) so time-tested as successful, b) so easy to accomplish, and c) has such potential to actually grow the business is quite suicidal business-wise, in my view.
And growing the audience is, I think, absolutely crucial to the future of pro wrestling. A more adult-oriented product won't bring the ratings back up, and it certainly won't refill the live venues when this pandemic is over, but a better-conceived and -presented product will.

It's the most coveted demographic and the only one that really "matters" for ratings for most shows oriented towards adults. They're the ones buying toys and other merch for themselves and their kids who are in younger demos.
This isn't even a wrestling thing. but a television and advertising business thing. There's nothing suggesting that even with recessions and increased costs of living that most fundamental buying power in the American economy has dramatically shifted overall to an older demographic. Otherwise, we'd be seeing a lot more ads for things like Medicare advantage plans and Consumer Cellular during most primetime non-news television.

It legit doesn't matter if they cater for younger or older viewers, just make it good! It will find an audience if the quality is there. Right now, it's duller than a lone razorblade in a barber shop.

There’s plenty of lengthy wrestling matches each week. I’d prefer the story building.

Just a heads up, but Dave (on his forums) denied this report about USA Network being mad about WWE and its ratings.
Doesn't help the credibility of this story when the guy claimed that FOX has bought the rights to WWE RAW. talkSport was the source of this rumor, and they are basically the sports version of The Sun in the UK.

I would not put it past USA network to do this so lets just say this is true....I mean they may as well because it has to be better than whatever they keep trying to shit out every monday currently which is literally a show on repeat from whatever they did the previous week , same people , getting the same multiple segments to pad out the show because f*** any sense of variety.
