Just randomly got to thinking about some of the weird and stupid things they did to try to act like the move never existed for awhile. Offhand there was them editing it out of his match with Jinder on the Best of NXT DVD, there was a Youtube upload of the Mania 31 finish where they had the frame freeze for a minute to make you think your Internet was just acting up and missed it, and there was that comic book that showed him winning at Mania 31 with the Pedigree.
Just bizarre at the time and even moreso to look back on, especially in light of Seth since then hitting it on Bray 800 times and twice since then ripping a guy's eye out.

It was a strange time, honestly. I get maybe why they started getting anxious about it, but honestly any kids stupid enough to let someone do a running curbstomp on their head while play-wrestling have probably just moved on to sticking things in power sockets

I also remember them hyping up a Seth Rollins vs. Randy Orton match on Raw by showing THAT RKO counter, but it was rather laughable in a Stomp-less world because what was Seth's plan in that scenario?

Oh right, also there was that recap video where they cut straight from Roman spearing Brock to Seth pinning him, making it look like Reigns knocked himself out with his own finisher like a dumbass.

I didn't get it cause every f***ing move could seriously injure a kid if done to them wrongly by another kid. Then the search for a new Rollins finisher led them to give him a move that makes the high flyer land on his knees after acl surgury brilliant

It was just a Paydirt except you don't look like you're taking a side slam

Dark days of Rollins. The Stomp is such a big part of Rollins he just felt incomplete without it.
I do wish they’d give it a proper name. It was Blackout and Peace of Mind for a minute, both of which I like. For his current character I wish he’d bring back the name “God’s Last Gift.”

I mean Seth has cool moves but every finisher he had after the Stomp just wasn’t the same. I don’t know why he didn’t use that springboard knee to the face he used in The Shield. It was great to see him get it back.

His was a knee from the standing position, like a V-Trigger.

There's no replacing the Curb Stomp, but his Frog Splash would've been a worthy substitute.

There's no replacing the Curb Stomp, but his Frog Splash would've been a worthy substitute. It does seem like they wanted to replace it with a similar move, or at least one that had the same kind of bump associated with the move to make re-imagining Seth's Stomp finishes a little bit easier. The WWE comic replacing the Stomp with a Pedigree is much more natural than pretending Seth climbed the ropes and did a Frogsplash to win the WWE title at Mania 31.

Part of the problem in replacing the Curb Stomp was almost all of Seth's ring style and signatures were centered around it so everything else looked awkward.
