From Wrestling Inc.
"Wrestling Inc. has learned that the company has also been discussing a Mexican Lucha Libre series, which would be an NXT Mexico of sorts. The show would reportedly air in the U.S. WWE has spoken with a few people about running the project, but it is very early on in the planning stages. One of the names being considered as a consultant on the project is Chavo Guerrero Jr. Chavo was an agent for Lucha Underground and was very involved with the promotion.
One source compared the project to the WCW Telemundo "Festival de Lucha" pilot that was taped in Waco, Texas on January 27, 1999 that never aired. The pilot was added to the "Hidden Gems" section of the WWE Network last year.
WWE has been looking to expand into international markets for awhile now. The company launched NXT UK in 2018, and has been considering creating NXT brands in several other countries as well."

So they buried Lucha House Party and took off Fantasma's mask, and now they claim to need luchadores for a tv show.
This f***ing company...

Ohhhhh boy, there's so many ways this could suck that I'm actually excited.
Taurus learning to work the hard camera! Bandito using two flying spots per match, max! Rush hitting a move and then staring at his hands, disgusted at the depths he must sink to in order to beat *spins wheel* Psycho Clown!

So a revival of Super Astros, then.
It could be OK if they've got someone with an actual knowledge of what makes a good lucha libre show working on it, but I struggle to understand why someone would watch Vince McMahon and Triple H's attempt at doing lucha libre when you could watch CMLL or AAA.

Which is where the trouble comes in, because in Vince and Triple H's mind, a Vince or Triple H-produced lucha libre show would of course be superior to CMLL or AAA, and everyoen presently has to settle for those promotions instead of an approved WWE brand lucha libre product.

A lucha Libre show with Kevin Dunn cuts and camera work oh boy. Maybe it's a merchandising thing, a way to encourage people to buy WWE branded sick bags.

Back when the old MLW Radio podcast was running, Konnan spoke openly about a lot of issues that promoters had in Mexico dealing with the various cartels. It was pretty much like Japanese promotions and the Yakuza back in the day - you had to have a good relationship with them to even try to have a viable business.
WWE only runs there sparingly using concert promoters because they don't want to deal with all of that. As much as they may like the idea, I really can't see Mexico being the base of operations for any regular promotion under the umbrella of a publicly-traded WWE.

WWE really likes trying to put their shitty blueprint on every wrestling style just to try and say they're the best at it
WWE you haven't been able to make a viable Luchador since Rey Mysterio, so much so you keep BRINGING BACK REY MYSTERIO. This is a dead in the water idea.

This is the same Vince that try to carny the Saudi Arabia Goverment, I can see him trying to pull the same shit on the cartels. Calling it now, nXt Japan or mexico is going to end up with Vince, Triple H or someone else in a bodybag.
