“Paper or plastic?” when referring to supermarket disposable bags. I worked a cashier at Walmart for a decade, and not a month went by during all that time where I didn't have at least a few people ask me if we had paper bags instead of plastic. I had to be honest and tell them I hadn't seen paper grocery bags since the end of the '90s.
that's funny you can ONLY get Paper bags in New York now and you have to pay a nickel for each if you want them.

Yeah, lots of places here have switched back to paper because Canada is banning plastic bags at the end of 2021, and the places that do still use plastic have been charging for them for a few years now

There's a synonym for miserly that sounds very similar to a racist word that has left the lexicon. To be fair, most people weren’t using that word in casual conversation anymore regardless of the fact that it predates the slur by centuries And despite how similar both words sound, they have completely different origins. One has nothing to do with the other. It's just an unfortunate coincidence.

If this is the word I think it is, George R R Martin started randomly using it a LOT in the second or third ASOIAF book, and it kinda shook me cuz I never heard that word before and I was beginning to think my boy George might be projecting.

"Niggardly"? Yeah that’s it. Didn’t remember it from the first book but then all of a sudden it’s like a new word he learned and spammed.

"I'm going to get my testicles laminated!"
.....that was a bit from a George Carlin routine. He's gone now so no one has a reason to say that anymore without being branded a joke thief.

No one calls anything "a gas" anymore. That's one old school slang term that I just never understood.
