RIP, I liked his appearances in WCW in the late 90's. Kevin Greene always seemed so amped whenever you saw him, and I think if he had some more time he could've been a decent hand in the ring, IMO.

Damn. I remember him being in WCW and it seemed to my amateur eyes that he was what they wished Mongo had been. RIP.

I think if Kevin Greene had ever gone all-in on a wrestling career he could've been the kind of upper midcarder/low tier main eventer that's well remembered decades later.
I also remember WCW trotting him out in Jacksonville FL as though there wasn't a rivalry between the Panthers and Jaguars.

Mongo is the last of the NFL crossover stars from WCW :-( Not quite...there’s still one running around WWE on occasion.

Damn good Football player and a better wrestler than he had any right to be given his experience. Dude seemed to understand pro wrestling better than almost any celebrity brought in

I remember him most from WCW, but he was also the Rams player screeching like a banshee in those Football Follies videos SI was always giving away. Always sounded like he was having a good time whatever he did.

Those Steelers LB groups with Greene were brutal in annihilating opposing QBs. He wasn’t bad for a football guy showing up for likely a huge payday.
RIP 91

A friend of mine and an aunt passed away on consecutive days last week. Condolences to those who loved Mr. Greene.

RIP, I remember that ppv where he teamed up with Flair and Piper to take on Nash, Hall, and Syxx. Seemed like a random main event, but I guess it was one of those Hogan doesn't want to work shows.

Dude seemed to understand pro wrestling better than almost any celebrity brought in One of my Twitter wrestling regulars (possibly Monsoon Classic -- EDIT: it was WCW Deep Cuts) posted a promo of his yesterday in memoriam and stated that he understood how to do a promo better than most, and in a field of wrestlers who didn't want to do them his promos stood out as so much more professional.

It helped a great deal that it wasnt a paycheck to him, Greene absolutely LOVED being there

Kevin Greene was entertaining as hell. He brought an incredible energy that elevated his program and the people around him, which is saying something considering most of the time we talk about footballers and celebrities having to be carried by the pros.
