And if that isn't a true blue miracle I don't know what one is.

Compare it to "A Special Sesame Street Christmas" which is.. um... not quite as good or memorable.

It's actually really, really nice going back to the good Sesame Street stuff as an adult, because you notice all the stuff with the adults in the background. How Mr. Hooper just immediately knows how things are going to go, and how he pauses to figure out the best way to resolve things. How Gordon sits on his frustration at Big Bird endangering himself for a stupid reason (it seems like he almost snaps that Santa doesn't exist before taking a second to calm down). How Bob is delighted with Linda's surprise, but has to also be in teacher mode to help the kids do the signs right (this one might have been real). How Bob explicitly acknowledges Mr. Hooper's Judaism. How David and Maria are obviously f***ing.
Also, goddamn that Santa Claus rooftop shadow thing is ominous, watching it now. It plays like a horror scene.

The message of special is one of the best in any Christmas special. That it doesn't matter if a mythical man in a red suit brought presents, it matters that the presents are there & that everyone is together.
