What a bizarre and unneeded overrun. yes, but they did cut into AEW. So that is my guess why

So no big cliffhanger...maybe they save it for the go home show to NYE next week.
Women got alot of air time as usual and NXT's womens division has become even more stacked.

Another awesome NXT. Killian Dain & Drake Maverick VS Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan was a fun Street Fight, even with the table issues. Again, I still don’t understand why they changed the rules for Street Fights with tags. Johnny Gargano has gone from my least favorite wrestler in NXT to my favorite. He is hilarious. I love the No Way Jose reference. I loved the segment of Finn Balor & Kyle O’Reilly watching & analyzing their Takeover 31 Match. I can't wait for them to do it again at New Year’s Evil. What a way to start off 2021. OK promo with Tyler Rust & Malcolm Bivens. Jake Atlas VS Isaiah Scott was an awesome match, especially after the commercial. I love the new attitude of Scott. The UndisputedERA’s promo was good, but the return of The Velveteen Dream was not needed. Timothy Thatcher’s promo was good. Rhea Ripley VS Dakota Kai was an excellent match. I loved the brawl between Ripley & Raquel Gonzalez & even though they wrestled each other before, I can’t wait to see it again. The Garganos Segment was hilarious once again. Toni Storm’s promo was really good. Another interesting segment with Xia Li & Boa. These segments have really helped their characters. Bronson Reed VS Ashante Adonis was a nice showcase for Reed, but a waste of a talented wrestler like Adonis, who has been overshadowed in the Cruiserweight Division. They could have used any other wrestler in the NXT locker room. I loved the intensity in Io Shirai & what a surprise with the return of Mercedes Martinez after the debacle of being in RETRIBUTION. The Women's Division is unbelievable. There are so many possible challengers for Shirai's Women's Title. Amazing final segment of Johnny Gargano’s Christmas with Candice LeRae getting the wheel of Shotzi Blackheart’s Tank. Leon Ruff VS Timothy Thatcher was decent, but is it really an upset? Ruff is a former NXT North American Champion. I loved Tommaso Ciampa attacking Thatcher & the challenge for the Fight Pit. I love Dexter Lumis being the guy to announce the matches for New Year’s Evil with his paintings since he’s hosting it. Ripley VS Gonzalez in a Last Women Standing Match will be awesome. Again, like Ashante Adonis earlier, having Ariya Daivari as an enhancement talent is a slap in the face to everyone on 205Live, even if he got some offense in on Tyler Rust. There are so many PC guys that can be used that way. Cool, so they are going to do matches next week on NXT with Leon Ruff VS Johnny Gargano. Last year, they just gave away the Year End Awards and did recaps of the year. Good promo by Karrion Kross. Adam Cole VS The Velveteen Dream was an excellent match. I love Pete Dunne attacking Roderick Strong. I can't wait to see them against each other next week. Next week, NXT will be ending 2020 with an awesome show & then it will start 2021 awesome with New Year’s Evil.
Here are the Facts & Stats for NXT: - Killian Dain & Maverick VS Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan was the 11th NXT Tag Team Championship of 2020 & the 1st since NXT on November 11, the 20th No Disqualification Street Fight of 2020, the 2nd one this week after Raw, & 1st on NXT since September 1, Dain’s 1st NXT match since December 9 & his 1st opener since July 22, Burch & Lorcan’s 1st NXT since November 11 & their 1st opener since October 14, Maverick’s 1st NXT match since November 4 & their 1st opener since May 27, was Burch & Lorcan’s 2nd Tag Team Title Defense, so if they lost, they would have been the 2nd NXT Tag Team Champions in a row to lose the title in their 2nd Defense, as of NXT, their Tag Team Title Reign has lasted 62 Days, which is the 3rd Shortest of All-Time, ahead of Moustache Mountain (22 Days, 6/19/18 – 7/11/18) & Breezango (56 Days, 8/26/20 – 10/21/20), so if they would have lost they would have been the 1st to lose the title in 62 Days - Jake Atlas VS Isaiah Scott was both Atlas & Scott’s 1st NXT match since December 9, & was their 3rd match against each other after NXT on July 29, which was won by Scott, & December 9, which was won by Atlas, so now in their 3 matches, Atlas has won 1 & Scott has won 1 - Rhea Ripley VS Dakota Kai was the 1st time since August 19 & 26 that Ripley wrestled 2 weeks in a row on NXT, Kai’s 1st NXT match since November 18, was their 4th match against each other in their career, after the Mae Young Classic on September 6, 2017, which was won by Kai, NXT UK on November 21, 2018, which was won by Ripley, & NXT on August 5, 2020, which was won by Kai, so now in their 4 matches, Ripley has won 1 & Kai has won 2, - Bronson Reed VS Ashantee Adonis was Reed’s 1st NXT match & 1st match overall since he defeated Austin Theory twice on October 21, Adonis’ 1st NXT since he, Jake Atlas, & Isaiah Scott lost to Legado Del Fantasma on October 21 & his 1st Single match on NXT since he lost to Jake Atlas on October 14 - Leon Ruff VS Timothy Thatcher was the 1st time since November 11 & 18 that Ruff wrestled 2 weeks in a row on NXT & was Thatcher’s 1st NXT since November 25 - Ariya Daivari VS Tyler Rust was the 1st time in his career that Rust has wrestled 2 weeks in a row on NXT & was Daivari’s 1st NXT since he & Tony Nese lost to TM61 on September 7, 2016 - Adam Cole VS The Velveteen Dream was Cole’s 1st NXT TV match since he defeated Austin Theory on September 30 & his 1st main event since September 1, Dream’s 1st NXT match, main event, & match overall since he lost to Tommaso Ciampa on November 4, & was their 3rd match against each other after NXT on May 6 & Takeover: In Your House on June 7, with Cole winning all matches, & was the only match to be re-matched from Takeover: In Your House in 2020, & was the 1st time since Kyle O’Reilly VS Pete Dunne on November 25 that a Women’s Match did not main event NXT

People have to stop using the word stacked when they are talking about the women's division. That is very sexist. Use another word.

Wouldn’t it have made more sense for O’Reilly to fight in the main event to keep him hot for the title match?

Is patrick’s existence simply to get the shit kicked out himself? Yeah it's weird isn't it? If they want to punish the guy just fire him already. Dont keep sticking him back on tv. Only buzz he has about him is negative.

Yeah, with the network exclusive WWE just uploaded involving Mercedes, I don't think she's gonna be a top level threat. She's referring to herself in the third person pretty constantly. But she did mention that she isn't finished with Io, and that "everyone will forget Io". twitter.com/WWENetwork/status/1341971108719976450

Back in the MYC it felt like she had a different kind of “IT.” Now everything she does is just flat as hell. Maybe it’s because the talent pool has upgraded so much in the years after the MYCs?

She is definitely the least interesting of the heels gunning for Io right now. Which is why I feel like she is going to be a filler defense at best. At worst she loses in a non-title match and vanishes again. Mercedes has always been pretty flat, character wise though. The MYC is a pretty bad indicator of who has IT.

Couldn't watch it live, but watched some of it afterwards and I was fully expecting Rhea and Raquel to say "screw this", turn around and kick the ref's ass for repeatedly calling them girls

You know, Mercedes yelling out "Remember Me!" would have made a lot more sense if she brutalized and destroyed Rhea Ripley, who she has had a lot of history with, as opposed to Io, whom she had had zero interaction with at all.

Mercedes falls into that Shayna/Thatcher tier of wrestler...someone who is very good to great in the ring but nothing she does really translates to EXCITING or captivating and with a division that is just filled to the brim with very strong personalities as well as wrestlers she might just end up being the Thatcher of the womens division.
